Fertilizers for dracaena at home
In order for the dracaena to grow lush and delight the eye with its bright deciduous hat, it must be regularly fed. The roots of the plant quickly occupy the entire pot, completely entangling the earthen ball. In such conditions dracaena very soon selects all nutrients from the soil. It is necessary to regularly replenish the stock of trace elements so that the flower has the opportunity to develop. With their lack, dracaena leaves begin to dry out over time.
To fertilize dracaena at home, you can use:
- store drugs;
- folk remedies.
Dracaena should be fed from spring to November, when the flower grows intensively. During the dormant period, in winter, fertilizers are not applied.
Store drugs
To feed dracaena, you can use ready-made preparations that are intended for decorative leafy plants and contain the necessary concentration of nutrients, for example:
- Master;
- Stimulus;
- Agricola for palms;
- fertilizer in sticks.
Mineral dressing can also be done independently:
- Mix 0.3 g of ammonium sulfate, 0.5 g of potassium nitrate and 0.4 g of potassium phosphate. Add the resulting mixture to 1 liter of water. Use for spraying on a leaf.
- Add 1 tsp per liter of water. nitroammophos. Effectively alternate such a solution with the introduction organics.
It is recommended to feed dracaena with both mineral and organic fertilizers no more than twice a month.
Folk remedies
Dracaena responds well to the application of fertilizers prepared independently from available tools, including household waste and droppings. The most commonly used dressings are:
- Bird droppings or rotted manure... To prepare a concentrated solution, mix the droppings with water in a ratio of 1: 4 and stand for 5 days. Dilute the finished infusion with water (15 parts of water for 1 part of the solution) and pour over the dragon tree.
- Meat water... To water the plant, use water in which raw meat has been soaked or thawed.
Given the specific smell of manure and meat water, it is advisable to take the pot out to the balcony and leave it outside for a couple of days. During this time, the unpleasant odor will disappear.
