Unusual spiders in flower beds - cleoma, planting and caring for an exotic flower

I would very much like to know which species, annuals or perennials, cleoma belongs to, planting and caring for it. In the spring, a friend gave me seeds, I sowed them immediately on a flower bed. Very little rose, maybe it was necessary to sow seedlings first? And now, in the fall, what to do with the glue, cut it off, dig it out, or does it not hibernate?

cleoma planting and care All summer long proud tall peduncles flaunt in the front gardens, the tops of which are crowned with many amazing flowers. Between the graceful oval petals, long stamens bizarrely bulge in different directions, like spider legs. This is an incredibly luxurious beauty cleoma, planting and caring for which is simple and not difficult. Originally from the eponymous cleomaceous family, in nature it grows in warm and temperate climates. However, in our conditions, the flower feels comfortable. Although cold winters still leave an imprint on its development and make adjustments to crop cultivation.

Cleoma - planting and care

where to plant glue

The main feature of growing cleoma in our climate is that it turns into an annual plant. The bushes do not survive cold winters in the open ground and freeze out, so you will have to plant them every year. It is better to choose a place for the plant that is illuminated - the more sun, the more magnificent and longer the flowering will be. The composition of the soil also plays a role - the culture will bloom more abundantly in the nutrient soil.

How to plant glue - methods and terms

cleoma shootsYou can get glue in your flower bed in three ways, but exclusively with the help of seeds:

  1. At the end of October, sow the seeds before winter. Do not deeply deepen and cover the beds with spruce branches, which will need to be removed in early spring.
  2. In the spring, when the soil warms up (April-May, depending on the region), make holes in the flower bed and sow glue in them. After the seedlings grow up, thin out the seedlings, at the same time planting them.
  3. In February, plant glue on seedlings, and at the end of May, transplant it into open ground. This is the best option that most growers use, especially in regions with cold climates. Cleoma grown from seeds blooms a couple of weeks, or even a month earlier.

When sowing seeds for seedlings and in open ground, treat them in spring growth stimulant... This will increase germination.

Florists who have been growing glue for more than one year have long noticed another way of plant propagation. It sows beautifully by self-seeding, which makes planting easier. If it is not very important for you that the flowers grow in a strict order, then you can not think about planting them at all.

Cleome care in the garden

cleoma planting and caring for a flower in the gardenDespite the rather impressive size of strong and high peduncles, they are not capricious in care and do not require much:

  • in the heat, occasionally, but water the bushes abundantly (the rest of the time the glue has enough moisture, which is in the soil);
  • with the appearance of peduncles, feed the mineral complex fertilizer under the root twice a month.

Don't forget to collect the seeds in the fall. And when the frosts come, pull out the bushes by removing the front garden.
