How to plant parsley correctly?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to grow parsley for several years now. The results are deplorable - either only half of the seeds emerge, or they do not grow leaves at all. Tell me how to plant parsley correctly to get lush greens?

Not a single vegetable garden can do without parsley, and even on the smallest plot there are several beds with herbs. But it is far from always possible to get a good harvest - often the seedlings grow poorly or stretch out strongly, forming a long stem with sparse foliage. Therefore, the gardeners face an urgent question: how to plant parsley correctly so that it sprouts together and delights with lush foliage?

This is not at all difficult to do if you adhere to generally accepted recommendations. So, when growing parsley, you need to pay attention to the following factors:

  • choose the right place for the beds;
  • prepare the soil;
  • prepare seeds;
  • determine the sowing time.

Choosing a place for the beds

The nature of parsley is not very capricious; it develops well on almost any soil, except for heavy. If possible, it is better to grow it on fertile soil in a well-lit place. However, in partial shade, parsley will also feel comfortable.

Soil preparation

It is advisable to fertilize the site before sowing. For spring sowing, several kilograms are introduced into the beds in the fall. organics, as well as a mixture of mineral fertilizers:

  • 10 g superphosphate;
  • 10 g of potassium salt;
  • 15 g of ammonium nitrate.

Then the site should be dug up, and with the arrival of spring, level the topsoil.

How to prepare seeds?

parsley seeds

Parsley seeds contain a large amount of essential oils, which is why they grow hard. To speed up this process, the seeds must first be germinated. To do this, they are placed on a damp cloth, folded into a bag and left at room temperature.

After the seeds germinate, they are placed in the refrigerator for a week on the lowest shelf for stabbing.

Sowing time for parsley

spring sowing

Parsley is sown in two ways:

  • in the spring;
  • in the fall (before winter).

For spring planting, you can start work at the end of March, provided that the snow has melted on the site. The optimum temperature is more than 4 degrees Celsius. The grooves are moistened before sowing, but after watering it is not worth it, so that small seeds, along with water, do not go into the depths.

winter sowing

Podwinter sowing is used to obtain an early harvest of greens, in addition, such plants are stronger. At the same time, the seeds are not soaked, but only hardened, therefore, for autumn sowing, a slightly larger amount of seeds should be taken in case not all sprout. In the spring, if necessary, the beds are sown. The sown area from above is mulched with a layer of 3 cm.
