Perennial medicinal plants - yarrow

yarrow One of the medicinal plants that have long been used to treat various diseases is yarrow. This grass is not rare and you can find it in the fields, in the forest, along the road and even in private plots. It is almost impossible to confuse yarrow with other crops, since it has a specific look, smell and even taste.

Characteristic signs

Yarrow is a perennial with a thick and yellow creeping rhizome, from which many underground shoots and roots emanate. Straight shoots rise above the ground from the roots, sometimes they are slightly curved. The total height of the medicinal plant, depending on the species and habitat conditions, can range from 20 to 120 cm. There are practically no lateral branches on the shoots, and only at the top there can be several branches.

The leaves of the yarrow are its calling card. Firstly, they have an interesting gray-green color, and secondly, no less original shape. The leaf blade itself is up to 15 cm long and consists of many pinnately dissected segments ending in thin thorns, which gave the plant its name. The leaves are very pleasant to the touch - they are soft and velvety.

Yarrow has many other names, for example, tenacious, woodworm, whitehead, or goulavitsa.

From the first days of summer until its very end, spectacular white baskets of small inflorescences flaunt on the bushes of useful grass. They (like the whole plant) have a light spicy-tart aroma, so the plant is also used in cooking.

Yarrow inflorescences are the most useful from the point of view of traditional medicine.
