Fish reproduce very quickly, especially if predatory species are not introduced into the pond. Fish is launched into a small young pond at the rate of 10 g of weight per 1 m2 the area of the reservoir. Stocking is carried out in the fall.
The annual growth of the golden carp population is about 30%. In three years, a large number of fish will appear in your pond and the ecosystem will be balanced.
Stocking of old ponds
Ponds that are more than three years old are considered to be old. In such ponds, a large food base for fish has already formed.
If the vegetation in the pond occupies more than 25% of the total area of the water surface, and the depth of the reservoir is 4.5 m, you can run large crucians into the pond. The fish is launched at the rate of 30 g of weight per 1 m2 the area of the reservoir.
Provided that you annually catch 30% of the livestock, then the ecosystem of the formed pond will remain in balance. Otherwise, the fish will begin to shrink.
In the future, the overpopulation of the pond will lead to "blooming" of water, weakening of the immunity of crucians and the defeat of the entire population with various diseases.
Pond stocking technology
To stock a pond, you must:
- prepare a saline solution using water from a reservoir;
- place the fish in this solution for three minutes;
- launch new individuals into the reservoir.
Dissolve in water one tablespoon of table salt per liter of water. The fish is placed in a solution for its disinfection. This is a mandatory preventive measure. Without this procedure, you could introduce an infection into the pond.
