Long-lasting fertilizer for hydrangeas and rhododendrons
Hydrangeas and rhododendrons have increased requirements for the composition of the soil relative to the level of its acidity. These flowers prefer acidic soils that are rich in nutrients. Therefore, when breeding plants, it is important to maintain the acid balance and the ratio of trace elements necessary for a beautiful flowering, which is one of their main advantages.
Long-acting fertilizers have proven themselves well as fertilizers for hydrangeas and rhododendrons. They consist of the full range of nutrients that plants need throughout the growing season and are presented in the form of granular preparations.
The advantage of long-acting complex fertilizers is that with a single application they do not dissolve immediately, but gradually feed the flowers with microelements over a certain period.
On the fertilizer market, there is a wide selection of prolonged-release preparations for fertilizing hydrangeas and rhododendrons. The most popular among them:
- Pokon fertilizer;
- fertilizer ASB-Greenworld;
- fertilizer Agrecol.

One of the prolonged preparations themselves, it can be used when planting young flowers or for spring feeding, while a single application per season is sufficient. The granules must be scattered around the bush and carefully embedded in the topsoil. After feeding, be sure to water the ground.
Fertilizer dissolves only in moist soil, so it is necessary to control the moisture level and prevent the substrate from drying out.
The fertilizer is sold in packs of 900 g, enough to feed 30 plants. For one hydrangea or rhododendron, no more than 30 g of the drug is needed.

The preparation is suitable not only for hydrangeas and rhododendrons, but also for other ornamental plants that like acidic soil (camellia, azalea). As a result of feeding, growth processes are activated, the number of buds increases, and the flowers themselves acquire a rich color.
The frequency of application of the drug is 1 feeding every three months.

On the market, the drug is known as "100 days for rhododendrons and hydrangeas." Two applications per season with a break of about three months are enough to provide the flowers with the necessary nutrition.
When planting young plants on one bush, you will need from 10 to 50 g of fertilizer, depending on the size of the flower. In the future, for top dressing, the granules must be scattered around the bushes, mixed with the top layer of soil and water the earth.
Consumption of the preparation for fertilizing adult plants:
- low bushes - 50 g per one;
- shrubs up to 70 cm in height - 70 g;
- plantings over 1 meter high - 60 g for each meter of height.
