Medicines for coccidiosis: a selection of effective remedies

Tell me, what veterinary drugs can be used for coccidiosis for chickens and rabbits? Last year, we bought broilers for trial breeding, but as a result of the mass mortality, all the birds died. Being away for a long time on vacation, the disease was not immediately noticed. The rabbits also got it, but then a neighbor helped: he gave some medicine, and most of them were saved. True, they are far behind in weight. Unfortunately, the package with the drug was lost. What should be given to the bird and animals in order to protect them from this infection or to cure it if it happens again?

If you have a large subsidiary farm or at least a dozen layers, you must have veterinary medications for coccidiosis at home. Coccidiosis can be safely called a thunderstorm for poultry and livestock. This disease can significantly reduce the number of animals and birds, as it spreads rapidly. Young animals are especially at risk. But even the timely start of treatment can only save the lives of the inhabitants of the farm. Recovered birds and animals greatly lag behind in development, as a result of which the productivity of their rearing sharply decreases. Nevertheless, it is necessary to deal with it, and even better - to carry out preventive measures in time. If you regularly give animals and birds special preparations, you can avoid death and loss.

What is coccidiosis

The cause of the disease is parasites-coccidia, for each species of animals this is its own species composition. It is noteworthy that the disease does not spare anyone. Coccidiosis affects chickens, geese, turkeys, rabbits, large and small ruminants, pigs. Even dogs and cats can become infected with parasites.

Coccidia enter the intestine, as a result of which it becomes inflamed and the microflora changes. Birds and animals begin to lose weight dramatically, and they develop loose stools. Death occurs without treatment.

Young animals are most susceptible to the disease. The risk of an outbreak of coccidiosis is increased with cages and with deep litter. Coccidia live in waste products for up to 1 year, without fear of frost or heat.

Veterinary drugs for coccidiosis

The modern veterinary market has a whole line of good drugs. They are successfully used for the prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in birds and animals, adding mainly to water. Some products can even be mixed with food.

Some of the most effective drugs are:

• Baycox (German production, quite expensive);
• Koktsiprodin (a cheaper analogue of Baykoks of Ukrainian production);
• Solicox (another Ukrainian analogue of Baykoks);
• Amprolin-300 VP (Dutch drug);
• Amprolium (Ukrainian analogue of Amprolin, but with a smaller amount of active ingredient);
• Diacox (a relatively inexpensive and high-quality drug that can be given with feed until slaughter).

Since coccidia have the ability to quickly get used to drugs, they must be changed every 6 months.

Vaccination is carried out to prevent disease in birds So, young broilers are given a live vaccine Advent or Aymeriavax 4m.
