Old and time-tested grape varieties sometimes even remain better than hybrids derived from them. Everything in it differs in strength and size: large bushes, impressive clusters, and tasty large berries. The only reasons why this variety can be seen rarely and not everywhere is its thermophilicity and vulnerability to diseases.

The variety is the result of Uzbek selection, and its parents are local grapes Parkent and Katta-Kurgan.

The growing season of the culture is about 140 days, which makes it possible to classify it as a medium early grape species. The warmer the summer, the earlier the harvest ripens. Therefore, in our climate, the grape harvest takes place at the end of August. And in his homeland, Rizamat ripens a couple of weeks earlier and is considered early.

From one adult shrub, you can get up to 80 kg of grapes, but you have to make an effort. First of all, this concerns the mandatory and repeated preventive treatment. The variety is often affected by powdery mildew. And it can also freeze out if the temperature drops below 18 ° С frost. Therefore, the key to successful cultivation of the species is the organization of the shelter.

Plant characteristic

It is recommended to initially plant seedlings separately, and leave at least 6 m in group plantings. The Rizamata bush grows large and fast. Don't worry about pollination problems with this planting. They will not be, since the variety is self-pollinated and does not need pollinating neighbors.

Despite the general large size, the foliage of the shrub is medium in size and rounded. Grapes produce many stepchildren per season, which should be removed. And chasing at the end of summer will help the young vine to ripen along its entire length.

The variety propagates well by cuttings due to the high survival rate of cuttings. But vaccinations take root reluctantly.

Taste qualities

The old variety is considered one of the best table varieties. And due to the fact that there are few seeds in the berries and they are small, Rizamat is called table-raisin. His bunches are loose, but large. The average weight of one is 1 kg, and with good care you can get all 3 kg.

The berries are also large, elongated, weighing up to 15 g, but not all. One bunch can contain grapes, both large and smaller. The thin skin is pink in color and covered with a waxy coating. The pulp is firm, straight crunches when biting, very sweet.

Pros and cons of the variety

Of the advantages of Rizamata, it is worth noting:

• universality of use;
• vigor and maturity of the vine.

However, the cultivar is not easy to grow as it is demanding in watering and nutrition. In addition, grapes have low winter hardiness. Even in the southern regions, it is sheltered if the temperature in winter reaches 20 ° C frost. And so that the vineyards do not hurt powdery mildew, they must be sprayed at least 4 times with special preparations.
