To paint the metal sections, you need a lot of paint, so we decided with our neighbors that we would plant equally vines, some of them, and the other half of us. But, first of all, you need to decide which plant you need - an annual or a perennial. There are also plenty to choose from among these two groups.

Annual climbing plants

Almost all annuals are flowering, in fact, for this they are grown. This is a great opportunity to update arches, gazebos and pergolas every year, planting new species and varieties.

From annual vines, you can plant in the garden:

1. Ipomoea purple with shoots about 8 m long, heart-shaped leaves and large gramophone flowers. Their color is very diverse, from white to different shades of red and blue-violet tones.
2. Momordiku is one of the longest-growing pumpkin crops. Its leaves are small, deeply dissected, and elongated orange fruits, covered with a hard skin with tubercles, act as decorative elements.
3. Kvamoklite with original feathery leaves and small red bell-flowers.
4. Thunberg winged, profusely blooming with bright yellow flowers with a black core, similar to small daisies.
5. Rhodochiton with original dark red flowers in the form of inverted umbrellas that hang until autumn.

Annuals grow for one season, and in winter they completely die off. They multiply by seed, so in the spring you will need to sow the seeds again. But many do a great job on their own. Ripe seeds fall on the flower bed and sprout themselves in the spring. You just have to thin out the seedlings.

Perennial garden vines

The advantage of perennial climbing plants is obvious. They do not need to be planted every season, while the vines continue to grow in size every year, increasing in size and covering an ever larger area.

For many years, such perennial vines will decorate your arch or other support:

1. Numerous clematis... It is very difficult to advise any one, here it is better to determine your selection criterion.There are varieties with different pruning requirements, with simple or double flowers, more or less hardy. Some bloom in spring, others delight with large inflorescences all summer. And there are clematis, which will give the second wave of buds in the fall.
2. Girlish grapes. The main decoration of the liana is its large leaves, divided into finger-like segments. They have the ability to change color. Green in spring and summer, by autumn, the leaves acquire crimson, pink and purple hues.
3. Ivy. Another decorative leafy liana, the best view for shady places.
4. Honeysuckle, known for its small but highly fragrant flowers. Its leaves are small, but there are a lot of shoots.
5. A petiolate hydrangea with whips, the length of which can reach 25 m. It blooms very beautifully with lush inflorescences of many white flowers.
