Viral diseases

Perhaps this is one of the most dangerous situations. The difficulty is that viral diseases have not yet been cured. Often, it is difficult to recognize them, because most of the symptoms indicate the usual chlorosis.

It is the appearance of chlorotic spots that confuses flower growers, but along with them, other signs appear on the face:

• stopping growth;
• young leaves appear small and deformed;
• spots, strokes and rings appear on the leaves and flowers.

If ordinary chlorosis is removed by foliar dressings, then they do not act on viral ones. It is useless to treat pelargonium with fungicides; it is better to get rid of it so that the virus does not spread to other flowers.

Fungal diseases

Most often, geraniums are affected by such bacterial diseases:

1. Root rot. First, the leaves turn yellow, then dark spots appear on them. The stem is covered with a wet black bloom and rots along with the roots.
2. Gray rot. Stems, leaves and even peduncles are covered with gray fluff, and they begin to rot.
3. Rust. The leaves turn red and become covered with pale spots, on which reddish dots appear. These are spores of the fungus, which gradually group and the spots grow, turning into pads. If you don't take action, the geranium starts to rot and disappears.
4. Late blight. The leaves turn yellow, become covered with dark spots, dry and fall off. The cause of the disease is most often an excess of moisture.
5. Powdery mildew. The foliage is covered with a white bloom - spores in the form of a powder.

Regardless of what disease affected the geranium, it must be transplanted, because the fungi remain in the old soil. To get rid of fungi, plants are treated with fungicides: Fundazol, Fitosporin, Ridomil, Vitaros.
