In order to make it convenient to observe the squirrels, the feeder for them is installed on a young deciduous tree, for example, a birch or alder.

Do not place the feeder on fruit trees. In this case, you will have to share with the animals a significant part of the harvest. In addition to the summer cottage, a squirrel feeder is installed in parks and squares.

Squirrels are rodents by nature and have very sharp teeth. Animals can bite a child's hand.

Therefore, such a feeder can be made of wood, and the roof for it can be made of plexiglass. Thanks to this roof, children can observe the squirrels from a distance.

Materials and tools for making a feeder

To make a feeder, you will need the following tools:

  • electric jigsaw;
  • construction hair dryer;
  • drill-driver;
  • Sander.

You will also need a marker for marking. For the manufacture of the feeder, the following materials are used:

  • board 5 cm thick;
  • bars 50X50 mm;
  • wooden corners;
  • plexiglass 2 mm thick.

In order to make a feeder, you need to cut out a wooden square, which will be the basis for the structure. A rectangle is cut out of plexiglass, the length of which is twice as long as the side of a wooden square.

Feeder assembly

The corners are screwed to the wooden base. Then you need to bend the roof of the trough. For this, plexiglass is laid on the base.

It is very important to mark the middle line of the rectangle with a marker. It is positioned exactly along the edge of the wooden base.

With the help of a building hair dryer, plexiglass is heated and bent at an angle of 60 °. When the glass has cooled, a hole is made in the center of the roof, through which a rope is threaded.

It is necessary to screw wooden racks made of bars to the base. Then, using screws, the roof is fixed to the racks. When the trough is ready, you can decorate it. To do this, use plaster molding corners or any other decorative elements.
