Division of nephrolepis - home surgery department

division of nephrolepis When the plant grows large and takes on a not quite aesthetic appearance, it means that it is time to divide nephrolepis. If you do not do the event at the right time, then the fern will not please with a lush and rich green bush. For this reason, many housewives do not wait until it is completely overgrown and the lovely frond turns into hay. They are in a hurry to seat him on time. Of course, one cannot do without losses in this process.

If using coconut fiber or expanded clay, then such materials are recommended to be disinfected. This is done with boiling water or other antiseptic.

Division of nephrolepis: substrate and process description

The day before, the flowerpot is carefully spilled so that it can be removed painlessly. It is advised to divide the bush in several ways. If the florist wants to get two different copies, then he simply breaks the earthen lump into 2 identical parts. However, many will want to have a whole fern greenhouse. Then the division of nephrolepis resembles a complex surgical operation:

  • take out the culture from the pot;
  • shake off the soil from the roots;
  • each formed seedling is separated;
  • remove outdated, ugly, dry and damaged areas.

Now prepare the substrate for planting. Fill a large bowl halfway with soil. A little vermiculite is added (1 cm layer). Then the lumps are mixed and thoroughly kneaded. Disposable cups (250-500 g each) are filled with earth to the very edge. Before that, pieces of foam are placed on the bottom. Each seedling is planted with simple techniques:

  • make a hole with your finger;
  • the rhizome is twisted around the outlet;
  • buried in the soil;
  • compact it;
  • add the top layer.

Many growers are desperate experimenters. They practice using a vegetable substrate for the fern. They explain this by the fact that there is no garbage in it. Such a soil mixture is looser and also unusually airy.

The formed seedlings are watered with warm and settled water, because it can be very hard. They make a home greenhouse for the plants - they are packed in a simple plastic bag. Fix with clamps from above. They put a mini greenhouse on the north window. In this case, there is no need to water the culture.

Thanks to the transparent structure of the containers, it will be seen how the root system develops. After 2 weeks, the seedlings can be taken out of the shelter. With the help of such simple procedures, the division of nephrolepis is carried out. When they get stronger, they are transplanted into normal pots.

Cautions

Some take their ferns outside for the summer. Nevertheless, there were many cases when in the fall they began to get sick and as a result disappeared. Therefore, you should be careful with such migration measures.

It is often written that the plant needs feeding. If you create favorable climatic conditions for it, in which it grows in the wild (humid climate of the tropics), then you can do without them. You should especially be wary of chicken droppings. It is considered the most powerful fertilizer, capable of destroying even the most hardy crops.
