The beauty of begonia has so many species that many growers are often confused with the belonging of the plant to a particular variety. Yellow terry begonia is no exception. It is often referred to as tuberous yellow begonia and most people think of it as two different species. In fact, both varieties are nothing more than one and the same flower, which has certain characteristics.
In addition, depending on the shape and size of the inflorescences and shoots, there are several hybrid varieties of this plant.
What is terry yellow begonia?
Yellow terry begonia can be distinguished from other types of flower by the following features:
- first of all, it has a characteristic yellow inflorescence color, which can acquire different shades in hybrid varieties;
- no less important is the shape of the flowers - they are quite large, about 4 cm in diameter, and consist of many petals, due to which the double inflorescences are very reminiscent of roses;
- leaves on shoots of medium size: the length of the leaf plate is up to 20 cm, and the width is 15 cm, the branches themselves in many varieties are slightly pubescent;
- the flower grows in the form of a compact semi-bush with recumbent, highly branching shoots, the height of which does not exceed 50 cm.
The root system of a plant consists of a tuber, which is why the flower is called tuberous begonia.
Types of yellow begonia with double flowers
The most famous representatives of this type of flower are the following varieties of begonias:
- Pikoti... Large yellow inflorescences are decorated with a pink-red border.
- Full yellow... It has the largest double flowers with a diameter of up to 14 cm.
- Ampelnaya yellow... It features long drooping shoots (up to 50 cm), which hang in waves from the pots. Branches well. Pure yellow inflorescences are located on elongated peduncles.
- Ampelnaya Cascade yellow. The series has thinner and longer shoots and peduncles than just ampelous begonia. Ideal plant for vertical gardening.
