Daddy is one of the largest petunias

It's autumn, and I've already bought myself some petunia seeds for the next season. Among the novelties of our small shop I spotted a pink Daddy petunia with a rather interesting color of inflorescences. Please tell us about Daddy's petunia. Does it have other varieties and can it be planted in a flower bed, or better in a pot?

When choosing a petunia, a novice florist is just right to get confused in its varieties. Sometimes even experienced craftsmen speak with uncertainty about the belonging of a plant to one or another variety. However, there are among petunias two groups of plants, which are simply impossible to confuse - these are ampel petunias with their long shoots and bush petunias with their lush compact forms. It is to the latter that Petunia Daddy belongs.

Petunia Daddy is a separate variety of spray petunias. Distinctive features of the species are the compact size of the bush with rather impressive sizes of inflorescences. The total height of plants does not exceed 40 cm, but the flowers reach up to 12 cm in diameter!

The species also boasts not only abundant, but also long flowering. Depending on the variety, the color of the flowers is very different, but in all hybrids the inflorescences seem to be painted with a fine mesh, and their neck has a darker shade than the petals.

It is worth noting that the bushes, although not tall, cannot boast of special branching. When planting in a flower bed, it is better to place seedlings close to each other in order to get a continuous flower cover, and not separate carpet paths. But as a balcony or pot culture, Daddy's petunia will show itself in all its glory.

When growing this variety of bush petunia, it should be borne in mind that it loves the sun very much and tolerates drought and wind well. However, in the rain, the delicate petals of the inflorescences sometimes get wet, do not keep their shape and bend. To protect the plants, they can be planted in pots or boxes on open terraces and summer verandas.
