Formation of bee layering

bee colony formation Beekeeping - a hobby of many gardeners. Some keep 4-5 bee colonies in order to provide their families with honey, while others systematically develop an apiary, increasing the number of hives to 100. One person can look after a hundred hives.

Formation of a strong bee family

The development of an apiary should begin with the formation of a “strong” bee colony in the spring, even before the young bees leave. It should be borne in mind that bees make their first flight in the season a week before the plants start flowering.

In the first season, honey can already be pumped out of the hive, but it is necessary to leave two foundation for the development of new bee larvae. After 2 years, when there are enough bees in the hive, about 8-10 cells, the family is considered strong. In such a hive, two or three queen cells are formed every season. The uterus is a cocoon with royal jelly in which a new uterus develops. After the queen cell is fully formed, the foundation with it and several clutches of bees must be transferred to a new hive. Bees from the foundation need to be chickened out to give the larvae the opportunity to develop well. The larvae will feed on honey. Then the uterus will hatch, and thus a new hive will form.

New bee hive

The new hive must be well insulated. To do this, you can use a down pillow, which is installed between the wall of the hive and the honeycomb. In order for it to have room for the accumulation of honey, an empty frame must be installed in the hive. Next, the hive is tightly closed with a top cover. The development of the bee colony is monitored throughout the spring, until the young bees acquire a black and yellow color.

Then up to 10-15 waxes can be installed in the hive. It is necessary to leave a distance of 2-4 cm between them. When the bees mature, it will be necessary to process the hive with smoke. Also, for protection, you need to wear long-sleeved clothes and a beekeeper's mask, this is especially important in the spring, when the bees begin to collect nectar.

When forming a new bee colony, it is necessary to destroy the extra queen cells and carefully examine the hive, since if the bees have already formed their queen cocoon, they will not accept another queen bee into the colony.

Young bees should make the first flyby, but if it often rains in May, the flyby can be delayed for several weeks, then you need to smoke the hive, pull out the combs from it and chuck the bees off them manually.

If you follow these rules, form a strong cut from the bee colony. Beekeeping can become not only your hobby, but also a way to earn extra money.
