Can Caribou herbicide be used against weeds such as mustard and shrimp? Previously, the field was clean, but in the summer it was probably skidded by the wind, because there is an area not farmed by anyone nearby. Beets at one end of the field are heavily overgrown. I'm afraid that this season the weed will not become full-fledged owners.

Unlike other weed control products, Caribou herbicide has a wider application window. It effectively does its job even in dry weather, completely destroying weed shoots on beets, which contributes to its active growth and increases productivity. At the same time, the drug does not have a negative effect on the culture itself. And it can be used simultaneously with many other herbicides.

Herbicide Caribou - composition and action of the drug

The active ingredient of the herbicide is triflusulfuron-methyl, sulfonyl urea. The drug is produced in the form of a water-soluble powder. It has a selective effect and affects only weeds, splitting safely in cultivated plantings. As a result of spraying, it is absorbed by leaves, penetrates into plants and blocks growth processes. Partial absorption also occurs through the root system. The first symptoms of exposure appear within a couple of hours, visible signs (yellowing) - after a week. The complete death of weeds occurs in 2 weeks.

The recommended frequency of treatments is twice a season. Re-spraying is carried out during the second wave of weed seedlings.

Where and how is the herbicide used

Caribou is used to kill annual dicotyledonous weeds in beet crops. Herbicide treatment can be carried out at a temperature from plus 15 to plus 25 ° C.

At lower or higher temperatures, a side effect appears:

• the leaves of the beet itself turn yellow;
• mottling appears.

However, within 1.5 weeks these symptoms disappear without affecting the further development of the culture.

It is necessary to start spraying beet crops as soon as at least 80% of their seedlings appear. Before seed germination, this cannot be done and is not advisable. As for weeds, the maximum efficiency is given by their treatment at the cotyledon stage and before the appearance of a pair of true leaves. Re-spraying is carried out after 1-2 weeks.

The working solution is prepared immediately before use. The rate is up to 300 l / ha. At the same time, the herbicide Caribou is always used in tandem with the Trend adhesive (consumption 200 ml / ha).

Caribou can be combined with other herbicides. This allows you to reduce their consumption rate. However, the simultaneous use of this herbicide and organophosphate insecticides in tank mixes, as well as nitrogen fertilizers, Not recommended.

The herbicide Caribou works during drought. If it rains within 2 hours after treatment, its effectiveness decreases. The drug has a hazard class 3 for bees and mammals and has no effect on crop rotation. Any crops can be planted on the area he has treated.
