Note to mushroom pickers - such a multifaceted mushroom mushroom, photo and description of species

Whether the mushroom mushroom is edible, I would very much like to know the photo and description of this species. We went with friends to the forest for the weekend, and found a whole clearing with mushrooms. In appearance, they are very similar to the flyworms, with the same velvet large caps. But when they tried to boil it, it tasted completely inedible, very bitter. In general, we were afraid to eat, threw it out, suddenly it was some kind of poisonous. But I am still tormented by the question of how I could be so mistaken, because I was sure that I collect flywheels. Do they have doubles?

mushroom flywheel photo and description One of the most valuable is a fleshy white mushroom. But there is another variety that, in terms of its taste, may well replace it. This is a flywheel mushroom, the photo and description of which is important to know in order to collect really tasty gifts from the forest. Among the variety of its species, there are both really excellent flyworms and not tasty false specimens. But even some of the mushrooms from the first group still need to be properly cooked to make an excellent dish.

mushroom mushroom photo and description of species

Convex caps of mushrooms, sitting on thick strong legs, are often confused with boletus. Although they are relatives, since they also belong to the Bolet family, they are a separate and rather numerous group. And young mushrooms are very similar to boletus.

All types of mushrooms share common characteristics:

  • tubular cap with a diameter of up to 9 cm, round in young and cushion-shaped in old mushrooms;
  • velvety soft skin on the cap, which becomes sticky after rain;
  • a dense hymenophore on the back of the cap, colored golden in young animals, while in adult mushrooms it is darker and may be of a different color;
  • smooth thick leg, without a cover, mostly short, except for species growing on dry moss - in them it stretches up to 8 cm.

A characteristic feature of mossy mushrooms, by which they can be easily distinguished from other mushrooms, is the bluing of the pulp on the cut.

Types of moss

The mushrooms owe their name to their habitat - mainly mosses in forests, ravines and on trees. There are also species growing under deciduous and coniferous trees. They prefer places with sandy soil and grow mostly singly. Small groups are rare.

There are almost 2 dozen species of edible moss. Most often you can find such mushrooms:

  1. Green flywheel. It has an olive-colored cap with a yellow flesh and a lighter smooth stem. Mushrooms are mainly used for drying or cooked along with other types.mushroom flywheel photo and description of false species green flywheel
  2. Yellow-brown flywheel. The yellow-brown cap is convex, soft, the tubes are asymmetrical, mustard-colored. Before cooking, remove the skin from the hats and clean the tubular layer from below. During cooking, such flywheels emit an unpleasant odor and have a metallic taste.flywheel yellow-brown
  3. Red flywheel. It is distinguished by an elegant red hat, pleasant to the touch, and a thinner leg. The tubular layer is yellowish. Mushrooms have practically no taste or aroma, so they are rarely fried, but can be pickled or dried with other species.flywheel red
  4. Polish flywheel. One of the most valuable species with a large brown cap up to 15 cm in diameter and pale yellow tubes. The leg is as if striped due to the numerous cotton threads. It is this type that is replaced in dishes White mushrooms.polish flywheel
  5. A variegated flywheel (aka fractured). It has a characteristic pattern of cracks on the skin on a brownish cap. It is rarely used in cooking, you need to know how to cook it, since the pulp is very slimy.motley fractured flywheel

Flywheel mushroom - photo and description of false species

All false mushrooms are not considered poisonous, but they are not eaten due to their bitter taste. You cannot poison yourself with them, but getting an upset stomach is easy.

False flywheels include:

  • chestnut with a brown-red convex hat;flywheel chestnut
  • bilious with a spongy brown cap, reddish pulp and a massive leg;bilious flywheel
  • peppery with a convex light brown cap, loose flesh, curved stem and a pungent taste;pepper flywheel
  • parasitic living on pseudo-raincoats - in appearance it looks like a green flywheel, only smaller.parasitic flywheel

You can distinguish false mushrooms from real ones by this sign: they do not turn blue on the cut, and some even turn red like a pepper mushroom.
