How to get a good harvest of bell peppers

Bulgarian pepper harvest Bell peppers are one of the most common vegetables. It is used in the preparation of many dishes, it is added to salads, and can be preserved from it. Many summer residents are unable to grow this crop on their site. In order to get a good harvest of pepper, you must follow the rules for caring for the plant:

  1. Pepper is a thermophilic culture. It is grown in seedlings and planted in open ground after the threat of spring frost has passed. The air temperature at the time of landing should be about 15 ° C.
  2. Seedlings should not be buried in the ground. Plant peppers to the same depth as they grew in cassettes or seedling containers.
  3. The soil in the beds with pepper should be loose and constantly moist. It is advisable to mulch the plants. Pepper is a crop that requires warm water.
  4. An important rule of caring for pepper is the formation of a bush. The plant must be pinned.

To increase the amount of ovary, pepper bushes are planted in holes in two plants so that they are better pollinated. The distance between the holes is 40-50 cm.

Pepper shaping

Pepper, after planting in the ground and good feeding, forms a large number of new shoots. They extract a lot of nutrients from the plant, so the bush does not have enough strength to form fruits.

Plant formation is a necessary measure. Without this technique, you will not get large peppers. An exception to the rule is undersized hybrids with weak branching, bred by breeders.

For a good harvest, tall pepper varieties stepchildren. The lower leaves and stepchildren of the bush are removed before the first branching. Three to four shoots are left on each plant. Side stepchildren are removed to thin the crown and improve ventilation.

It is advisable to remove the central flower of the first branch. This will increase the amount of ovary.

On each bush, you can leave from 12 to 15 fruits. The rest of the ovary is cut off. If more peppers are left on the plant, they will not ripen, their skin will be thick and rough, and the size of the fruit will decrease.

During the formation of the pepper, remove all the shoots growing inside the bush. Leaves shading the ovary are also cut off. A month before the fruits ripen, all growth points are pinched so that the plant spends nutrients only on the enlargement of the peppers.
