Eggplant without a greenhouse is real

I ask experienced gardeners to advise how you can grow eggplants without having a greenhouse on the site. Is it possible to grow a good harvest of this crop using only film covers? If someone successfully grows eggplants in such conditions, please share your experience.

Growing eggplant in film tunnels differs from greenhouse cultivation by later planting seedlings. If, under the conditions of the Moscow region, eggplants are transplanted into a greenhouse in the tenth or fifteenth days of May, then it is better to place the seedlings in the tunnel closer to the beginning of June. This also means a later date for sowing seeds for seedlings - early March instead of mid-February.

In addition, you need to keep an additional shelter ready to quickly cover the tunnel during recurrent frosts. Agrotechnical techniques for growing eggplants in a solar greenhouse are the same as in a greenhouse. Mulching, watering, two or three top dressing with herbal infusion, manual collection of the Colorado potato beetle. It is also necessary to regularly cut off dying leaves and weak fruits. By the end of the season, from two to five fruits are left on the plant, they will not ripen anymore.

With the appearance of the first growths, you need to cover the eggplants at night in order to avoid diseases. Since by the end of the season the eggplant plants reach a decent (from one meter and more) height, the tunnel must be built in accordance with the planned height, depending on the varietal characteristics of the eggplant.

Don't rush to harvest your eggplant plants in the fall. Colorado beetles climb on them in such numbers! It is very convenient to collect and destroy them to reduce the spring population of pests.
