When the vegetable season has not yet arrived, it is so nice to crunch homemade natural cucumbers. And you can also plant seedlings of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and other crops there. However, today we are not talking about that, but about how to grow cucumbers in a greenhouse. It is not enough just to plant them, you need to create suitable conditions for the plants and properly care for them. But let's talk about everything in order.

Preparing the greenhouse

preparation of beds

What should be greenhouse and how to make it, we'll talk another time. An equally important issue is greenhouse soil. For cucumbers to actively grow and set fruit, they need nutritious soil. And so that they do not get sick, it is also important to properly prepare the beds before planting.

Vegetables cannot be planted in ordinary land that has remained under the greenhouse shelter. A layer of earth up to 20 cm deep must be removed. Instead, pour a fertile soil mixture consisting of the following components into the beds:

  • sod land and humus - in equal shares;
  • potassium sulfate - 0.5 kg;
  • superphosphate - 0.5 kg;
  • saltpeter - 0.1 kg;
  • peat - no more than 1/3 of the total mass.

For disinfection before planting, the beds should be spilled with potassium permanganate. Last year's beds are dug up with the addition of organic matter and the mineral fertilizers listed above.

Experienced gardeners are advised to replace the soil in the greenhouse with fresh soil every 5 years.

How to grow cucumbers in a greenhouse: plant seeds

cucumbers in the greenhouseIn the greenhouse, you can plant both seeds and ready-made cucumber seedlings grown on the windowsill. At the same time, the sowing dates differ:

  • seeds are sown in 2 pieces per hole at the end of March (in the south) or in mid-April;
  • grown seedlings are transplanted into a greenhouse at the end of April (in the south) or in May.

When planting, it should be borne in mind that cucumber bushes need space. Leave at least 30 cm between the plants, and at least 80 cm between the rows.

Care for cucumbers in the greenhouse

sprayingIn order for the cucumbers to develop quickly, high humidity must be maintained in the greenhouse, not forgetting to ventilate it. During the day, the temperature should not be higher than 28 degrees Celsius, and at night - not lower than 15 degrees. Water it with warm water under the root. Young seedlings are additionally sprayed. Every two weeks, planting is fed with organic matter or a mineral complex. During the season, you will need 5 dressings. Garter vines on a net or on a trellis will help facilitate care and harvesting.

You can get a good harvest by shaping the cucumbers into one stem. To do this, pluck out the stepsons completely in the first 3-4 nodes. In the next four, leave one ovary and one leaf each, in the growing one behind it - 2 fruits and 2 leaves, and so on incrementally. When the bush grows to the ceiling of the greenhouse, pinch the top. The fruits are harvested as they ripen, not allowing them to stay on the bush and draw food from it.
