The desire to grow a neat lawn is understandable. But in order to get a high-quality result in the end, you will have to make a lot of efforts. In addition, soil type will influence the choice of seeds and planting technology. If all indicators are normal, then there is nothing to worry about. What to do in the presence of clay soil? The answer below will fully disclose the question: which lawn is better to plant on clay soil?

Some features

As you know, the presence of a large amount of loam in the earth has a detrimental effect on all types of plants. Among its disadvantages are:

  • poor moisture conductivity
  • moisture retention;
  • weak aeration.

This is what leads to the death of plants or their seeds. Nevertheless, experts say that it is enough to spend a couple of days, and you can start sowing lawn grass.

You should start working the soil only when it is completely dry, that is, at the beginning of summer.

Step-by-step instruction

To do everything correctly and not make mistakes anywhere, it is enough to follow a simple algorithm of actions:

  1. Site leveling. Removal of debris, stones, branches and weeds.
  2. Loosening the site. The depth should be about 15 cm. At the same stage, it is recommended to add lime, which stabilizes the weakly acidic reaction.
  3. The organization of the drain. In order for the water to quickly leave the lawn, a slope should be made from the center to the edges.
  4. Fertilization. There are practically no restrictions here, as both mineral and organic species are suitable. Still, one should dwell on the latter, as it will give more looseness and air permeability.
  5. Sowing. To avoid difficulties with this process, experienced gardeners recommend dividing the territory into squares 1 × 1m2... After the end of sowing, the seeds are tamped with a roller, which provides greater adhesion of the seeds and soil.
  6. Watering. Hold the moisture for the first 2 weeks so the lawn grass grows faster. Use a drizzle attachment.

If herbicides have been used to control weeds, then at least 14 days must pass after the treatment so that the lawn seeds do not disappear.

Effort is required in any process. Therefore, if you want to get a beautiful green oasis on your territory, you will have to make a little effort.
