Defenseless beauty without thorns - bougainvillea nude

bougainvillea nude Bougainvillea naked as a variety of evergreen vines is most often used for planting in hanging pots or for vertical gardening of indoor spaces. It lends itself well to shaping, moreover, it has a very attractive decorative appearance.

Description of the variety

Externally, a perennial is a large liana with long stems. They grow very quickly and curl well, but lignify with age. The branches are covered with oval leaves with a sharp end, which taper closer to the petiole. The length of the leaf plate does not exceed 15 cm, and it is painted in a deep green color and slightly shines.

A distinctive feature of smooth bougainvillea (the plant also has this name) is the absence of thorns on the shoots, which densely cover the branches in other varieties.

During the flowering period, small yellow inflorescences on a long stem-tube bloom on the branches. They can be either single or collected in small groups of 2-3 pieces. Around the inflorescences there are large, oval bracts with a pointed tip, 3 cm in diameter.

The parent variety bougainvillea glabrous has purple bracts. The hybrids derived from it can have different colors (white, red, pink, yellow and their other shades).

What does bougainvillea love?

In order for the bush to bloom annually and profusely, the pot must be placed on a light windowsill. To protect from direct sunlight, a thin curtain screen is installed on the window, but not paper, since then there will not be enough light.

It is necessary to exclude drafts, from which the bush will begin to hurt and may disappear.

As for the air temperature in the room, it depends on the season:

  • in the spring and summer period, 25 degrees Celsius are considered optimal;
  • in winter, a dormant period should be created for the flower and transferred to a cool room (not higher than 15, but not lower than 10 degrees Celsius).

To increase air humidity bougainvillea it is necessary to spray without getting on the flowers themselves, or put a humidifier. Also, the flower responds well to bathing under running water.

In the hot season, the liana should be watered often, twice a month, in parallel, applying mineral fertilizers. With the onset of cold weather, the intervals between watering should be increased, and in winter, only slightly spray the ground.

To restrain the lush growth of bougainvillea and give the bush a well-groomed look, dried and too thin branches are cut in the spring, and in the fall the crown is thinned out and the remaining branches are cut to a height of 7 cm.
