- the cracking bark becomes dark gray and can be up to 6 cm thick, but closer to the crown it becomes lighter and thinner;
- successive green leaves with a finely serrated edge have a rhombic or round-triangular shape and grow up to 8 cm;

- small flowers are collected in rich earrings, reaching 10-12 cm in length.

In folk medicine, all parts of the plant are used: bark, leaves and buds. To preserve all the medicinal properties of black poplar, the collection of medicinal raw materials is carried out during the flowering period. The buds are cut at the initial stage of development, when they have not yet blossomed and hatched. After a few hours after cutting, they separate from the shoots. The resulting natural material is laid out on the underlay in a thin layer. For drying, select a well-ventilated room with a cover to avoid direct sunlight. The contents are mixed or turned over several times a day to dry evenly.
Raw materials are packed in fabric or paper bags that are tightly tied / closed. All this is stored in a dry and dark place with good ventilation.
The medicinal properties of black poplar with a detailed description
As already noted, the black poplar has a pronounced resinous aroma because the plant contains esters (0.5%), fatty oils, as well as tannins and resinous substances. In addition, a high percentage is occupied by organic acids: malic, gallic and ascorbic.
This list is supplemented:
- glycosides;
- populin;
- chrysin;
- salicin;
- gum.
Populin and salicin promote the elimination of uric acid from the body, which is abundantly excreted in the urine. Therefore, the medicinal properties of black poplar buds are widely used to treat gout. According to some studies, when crystalline glucosides enter human cells, they are converted to salicylic acid. Aspirin has powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Populin, in turn, is heavily used in the fight against parasites, as well as viruses.
Among other things, preparations based on sedge have other properties.:
- urine and diaphoretic;
- bactericidal;
- expectorant;
- antipyretic;
- antiallergic;
- pain reliever.
The healing properties of poplar bark are effective for rheumatism, gout, arthritis, pain syndromes and diseases of the genitourinary system. Along with this, frostbite, infected wounds and hemorrhoids are also treated with bark, but only externally.
As an antiseptic agent, kidney sedge are applicable for the treatment of chronic bronchitis, especially with purulent secretion. The active ingredients have an antiseptic effect on the bronchial mucosa and contribute to the liquefaction of sputum. Despite such healing properties, contraindications of black poplar buds are always taken into account. Patients who have an individual intolerance to aspirin refrain from such therapy. Such treatment is prohibited for pregnant, breastfeeding and suffering from acute gastrointestinal diseases.

The genitourinary system is a complex mechanism that, if it fails, then for a long time. However, the kidneys of the sedge were effective in the fight against cystitis (also cervical), sperm, painful urination, urinary incontinence, hypertrophy, excessive sexual arousal and prostatitis.
Black poplar buds for the prostate are usually taken in the form of an infusion. To prepare it:
- crushed raw materials (2 tbsp. l.) are poured with boiling water (200 ml);
- the mass is brought to a boil;
- removed from fire;
- infused up to 3 hours in a thermos or wrapped in a towel;
- filtered.
It is taken orally 3 times a day before meals for 30 minutes. The optimal dose for men of standard build is 2 tbsp. l. in one go. For prostate adenoma, a different recipe is used. 60 g of dry mixture is added to 200 ml of boiling water. It is infused in a thermos for an hour, after which it is filtered. The intake system remains unchanged, with the exception of the dosage, which is 50 ml. These infusions are also relevant for other urological diseases of the genitourinary system. The maximum course of admission: from 14 days to a month. In the absence of results, immediately consult a doctor.
For hemorrhoids, rheumatism and gout, 30 g of dried kidneys are infused in 200 ml of boiling water for 15 minutes. The filtered concentrate is drunk throughout the day.
To lubricate (morning and evening) hemorrhoids, a remedy is being prepared: the kidneys are ground into powder and mixed with petroleum jelly.
The invaluable role of black poplar tincture
In most cases, the potion is used to treat parasites. 40 drops of a concentrated product are diluted in a glass of water or milk. This composition is taken 30 minutes before meals three or four times a day. The duration of the therapeutic course is 30 days.
Black poplar bud tincture is very simple to prepare:
- 20 g of dried raw materials are poured into 0.5 liters of vodka / moonshine (40%);
- the glass container is hermetically sealed;
- the composition is infused for 14 days in a dark room;
- after the expiration date is filtered.
The resulting tincture is also recommended to be taken with the appearance of malignant tumors, tuberculosis, rheumatism and diseases of the genitourinary system.
In addition, it serves as an indispensable expectorant and bonding agent. It is often used for inhalation for colds and viral diseases. The use of poplar kidney tincture is effective for laryngitis, tracheitis, tuberculosis, pneumonia and angina. The result of therapy is obvious after 4-8 days of administration.
Preparation of anti-inflammatory and analgesic extract. To do this, the kidneys of the black sedge are filled with vegetable oil (1:10) and boiled for 10 minutes. After cooling, the mixture is filtered. The medicine is taken for urolithiasis for 1 tsp. three times a day after 8 hours.
