Lyubka two-leaved is a perennial plant belonging to the Orchid family. In the common people it is called differently: night violet, cuckoo tears, night perfume, field jasmine, wild balm, love root, night beauty, butterfly orchid.
The height of the stem is 20-60 centimeters, the structure of the plant is similar to the orchis. Lyubka's flower is white, some varieties are greenish. The smell of the plant is pronounced and it appears only at night or during rain. The aroma is very persistent, it can be felt even at a distance of 2 meters, and therefore it is used as a component of aromatic oils. It strongly attracts butterflies and other insects, the flower is pollinated by hawk moths.
The plant is endowed with magical properties - in ancient times it was the main ingredient for potions and means used for love spells. From this it got its name "Lyubka".
Many people are interested in where Lyubka double-leaved grows, and want to use it as a raw material for medicines or for decorative purposes. The flower is listed as a plant in need of protection, and therefore its collection and harvesting in nature is prohibited. In addition, land reclamation and forest plantations pose a strong threat.

Two-leaved Lyubka can be found in clearings, in forests, in wet meadows, in light forests, between bushes. She is unpretentious to weather changes, she feels good in heat and frost. Grows faster in the vicinity of mushrooms. In settlements, it rarely grows and most often it is plucked to create bouquets.
Lyubka two-leaved lives in the middle zone of the European part of Russia and in Siberia. The plant grows in the Caucasus, Altai, Asia Minor. The flower propagates by seeds that are blown up by the wind. Most often it can be found in Poland, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria.
Medicinal properties
For the preparation of drugs, tubers are used, on their basis, various means are prepared. 50% of lyubka consists of mucus, which has anti-inflammatory, enveloping, diuretic, antiseptic, antitoxic effect. Salep, upon contact with water, turns into a jelly-like mass and envelops the stomach and other human organs.
Various medicines are prepared on the basis of the plant:
- the broth is used to treat gastrointestinal diseases, nervous exhaustion, diarrhea, abscesses, fever, gynecological diseases, inflammation of the bladder, seizures, infertility.
- the powder is effective for prolonged bleeding, diarrhea of any ethology, cystitis, senile exhaustion;
- fresh tubers are able to relieve toothache;
- a decoction of tubers powder is used for rinsing for dental diseases and diseases of the upper respiratory tract;
- powder from old tubers is used as a contraceptive;
- tincture from the roots of the plant together with honey is effective for severe cough;
- the tubers of the plant, crushed and steamed in milk, draw out pus well, they are applied to wounds and abscesses.
But most often lyubka double-leafed is used to treat disorders of the gastrointestinal tract in children. Together with other components, the plant is taken for leukemia. It is mixed in equal proportions with spotted orchis and horsetail. The effectiveness of the products depends on the quality of the raw materials, the tubers should be firm, light yellow, odorless.
For treatment, the tubers of the plant are used, which must be harvested at the end of flowering or in the later stages.
Juicy tubers are cleaned, washed thoroughly under running water, boiled for no more than 3 minutes, dried in a dark place or in an oven at 50 degrees.
Tuber-based decoctions are the most common drug. To prepare it, you need to mix 10 g of dry herbs with a glass of boiling water. The dosage regimen of "medicine" in adults and children is different. Adult patients take a decoction three times a day for a tablespoon. For children, 1 teaspoon 2-3 times a day is enough.

Healing recipes

In case of inflammation of the bladder or cystitis, it is necessary to bring a glass of milk to a boil and add 2 teaspoons of the plant root, crushed to a powdery state, to it. Then the liquid must be shaken until it thickens. A decoction is taken 3 times a day, 1-2 tablespoons.
In Iran, residents prepare a drink from any ordinary, which they drink every morning with honey... It is effective for coughing, but most often it is used to prevent various diseases. People call it "kokui".
With heartburn, diarrhea and stomach pain symptoms that need quick relief, you need to brew 1 teaspoon of powder from the roots with a glass of boiling water and strain after half an hour. The product is drunk in one gulp after straining, without waiting for cooling. If it does not cope with the symptoms, the treatment of any two-leafed in traditional medicine is repeated along with drug therapy.
To get rid of prostatitis, you need the flowers of the plant. It is necessary:
- Pour 100 g of flowers with a liter of olive oil.
- Leave in a dark place for 2 weeks.
- Strain.
- Mix a teaspoon of finished raw materials with 50 ml. boiled water.
- Beat until a thick emulsion forms.
It is necessary to inject the resulting medication into the rectum before going to bed for 2 weeks. For a speedy recovery, it is worth taking medications prescribed by a doctor.
In Belarus, chopped tubers are mixed with pork fat, and the drug is applied to aching teeth or abscesses. Girls use a product to grow and strengthen their hair.
The drug from the plant is also taken for recovery after operations, for general strengthening of the body. It is necessary to boil half a liter of milk and gradually add to it 20 g of the roots of two-leaved Lyubka, crushed to a powdery state. The liquid is mixed until a thick foam forms. If the medicine is being prepared for an adult, then 40 g of raw materials will be required.
