Frost-resistant apple trees of the Uralets variety for your favorite garden
Growing fruit crops in regions with cold winters is troublesome, but rewarding. Sverdlovsk breeders have created original Uralets apple trees that are not afraid of frost and bring abundant harvests.
The fruit culture was obtained by combining three fruit trees:
- striped pink anise;
- Ukrainian Saratov;
- Chinese wax.
Fruit culture through the eyes of biologists
For the common man, all trees are the same. They consist of a trunk, branches, foliage and fruit. However, a detailed description of the Uralets apple tree causes unprecedented delight. The culture grows up to 15 m in height. The branches are located in relation to the main trunk at an angle of 90 °. Young trees give in planned pruning... Thanks to this, gardeners form relatively low crops (up to 4 m). And the crown of an adult plant takes on a round or pyramidal shape. The apple tree grows up to 70 cm per year.

The trunk of the tree is covered with smooth dark bark, which gradually turns black over the years. The branches are decorated with matte foliage located on shortened petioles. The base of the plate is round and the edges are serrated. 
In the spring, pinkish buds appear among the fresh greenery. When they bloom, they resemble the snow-white bridal bouquets. They exude a pleasant aroma, which attracts bees and other insects.
For successful pollination, related crops should also grow on the site (for example, Ural liquid).
The tree bears many fruits every year. They are located on branches in large groups. Therefore, gardeners have to control the number of ovaries that form after flowering. Otherwise, under the weight of ripe fruits, branches may break off. On average, up to 80 kg of a full harvest is harvested from one Uralets apple tree.
The fruits of the Uralets apple tree have a number of features:
- the average weight is about 60 g;
- round, slightly elongated in the center;
- glossy surface;
- cream-colored pulp;
- pink stripes appear with an abundance of sunlight;
- the stalk is gray;
- ripe fruits are covered with a waxy coating.

How to properly plant apple trees of the Uralets variety in a summer cottage
The culture is planted in early spring or autumn. The moment is chosen after the massive melting of the snow cover and the absence of severe frosts. The plant should still be in "sleep" mode. Before the juice starts moving and the buds open. In the fall, gardeners wait for the trees to shed their foliage. Only then do they start landing. The procedure scheme consists of a number of activities.
When planting in autumn, the soil is not fertilized so as not to accelerate the development of branches. As a result, they will not have time to prepare for winter.
Suitable garden plot and soil
In order for the fruit crop to bear fruit abundantly, it is planted in a brightly lit place. In an open area, the tree should be protected from cold northerly winds. If the site has a hilly relief, a hill is chosen for the apple tree.
Given the height of an adult culture, it is placed away from power lines, roofs of houses and utility buildings. The root system must develop in such a way that it does not interfere with water, gas or telecommunication lines.
The soil should be fertile and well-drained. Sand is added to dense soil to improve moisture permeability. Supplement if necessary humus and ash. Swampy or rocky soil leads to damage to the root system and the gradual death of the apple tree.
Sapling selection rules
High-quality planting material is purchased in specialized nurseries.
It must meet the following external characteristics:
- straight trunk;
- seedling height up to 1 m;
- at least 5 side shoots;
- free from damage and defects;
- trunk with bright bark;
- unblown buds;
- developed root system.
Usually the seedling has information about its age and variety. If desired, gardeners request data on pest and disease resistance, as well as the period of fruiting.
The optimal age of the tree is at least 2 years.
Planting fruit crops
Frost-resistant apple trees of the Uralets variety bear fruit abundantly if the seedlings are placed 4 m from each other. When several rows are formed, the gap is made about 6-7 m. Each culture specimen should not obscure its “neighbor” and interfere with its development. A gross violation of the agronomic scheme reduces the yield. In addition, dangerous pests can "settle" in the garden.
2-3 hours before planting, the root system of the tree is soaked in water. Then a clay slurry is prepared, which contains copper sulfate. Immediately before planting, the roots of the plant are dipped in a solution and lowered into a pit.
The planting funnel is prepared in advance. Its size is 70 × 70, the depth corresponds to the volume of the root system (not less than 50 cm). The seized land is mixed with humus (1 bucket) and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers (100 g). The resulting substrate is placed on the bottom of the funnel.
The prepared apple seedling is placed in the center of the pit. The roots are carefully straightened, after which they are covered with earth. Periodically compact the soil so that there are no air cushions. The plant is watered with water (about 20 l).
The graft and rootstock should protrude slightly above the soil level.
Planned Care Is the Key to Success
People say that you can't pull a fish out of a pond without difficulty. Moreover, to grow a fruit tree. Competent planting of the Uralets apple tree and care are the main criteria for obtaining abundant fruiting.
Water the plant according to a simple pattern:
- young seedling 2-3 times a week for the first month;
- apple trees, which are 2 years old, once a month in the absence of precipitation;
- mature crops have enough natural moisture.
Before pouring a portion of water under the apple tree, step back about 60 cm from the trunk. Make a mark, slightly loosen the soil. At such a distance, moisture penetrates much faster to young roots and promotes crop growth.
The Uralets apple tree is fed with such organic substances:
- humus;
- bird droppings diluted with water;
- wood ash.
In the spring, fertilizers containing nitrogen are applied to the soil. In the fall, the trees are fed with minerals. This stimulates the growth of branches ready for fruiting. In addition, young seedlings require regular sanitary and formative pruning. It is carried out in the classical way, removing dry, twisted and improperly growing shoots.
