Juniper mite on ornamental plants

tick-infested juniper Juniper is one of the first plants that were used for landscaping large noble estates. It is still widely used in the preparation of landscape compositions in parks. Certain varieties of juniper can be grown at home as a container crop.

Caring for a juniper at home consists in timely watering. They are carried out at intervals of 15-20 days.

Juniper variety Strickta has a developed root system that absorbs moisture very quickly and likes frequent watering. However, it is impossible to overmoisten the soil, otherwise the bonsai will die.

Description of the variety Strickta

An adult juniper rarely grows in a summer cottage to a height of 2.5 m, and in a container - up to 1.5 m. This feature is a characteristic feature of all dwarf cypress trees. The Strickt juniper is considered a bonsai. It has a symmetrical pyramidal crown that is studded with many green sharp needles.

Juniper branches are short. The maximum diameter of the crown of an adult plant is 20-30 cm.The annual growth of branches in indoor conditions is 5 cm.

Wilting needles

Growing Strickt juniper is not difficult at home. Its needles can wither for three main reasons:

  • lack of nitrogen and potassium supplements;
  • waterlogging of the soil;
  • defeat by a juniper tick.

Once every two months, the soil should be applied complex mineral fertilizers... Then the juniper will grow well. Yellowing of the needles signals a lack of potassium and nitrogen in the soil, as well as excessive watering, so reduce their amount.

If the needles do not just turn yellow, but wither and fall off, then there is a high probability that the plant will be damaged by a juniper mite.

Juniper mite treatment

This insect settles on the root system of the plant and feeds on its juice. Due to mite infestation, juniper roots lose their ability to absorb moisture and rot. The soil in the pot remains moist for a long time, even with minimal watering.

If you don't take action, the plant will die two weeks after the appearance of these signs. The juniper should be sprayed and watered with acaricide solution.

To increase the effectiveness, use the complex of preparations "Opercot WP" and "Apollo". The first result will be visible after three treatments. They are carried out at intervals of six days.
