Crop harvesting nozzles

potato digger on a walk-behind tractor The walk-behind tractor makes it easier to work on the site. With this technique, you can cultivate soil, hilling plants and harvesting root crops. Active attachments are installed on the walk-behind tractor, for example, a separate cutter or a nozzle for collecting root crops.

The two most common harvesting attachments are the dolphin knife and the comb knife, popularly called the rattling attachment. This nozzle received this name due to the fact that when the walk-behind tractor is operating, it bursts into the soil with a roar and throws the soil aside. Each harvesting attachment has its own advantages and disadvantages. Let's consider working with this attachment in more detail.

Working with a dolphin knife

Dolphin knife comes with light gasoline motoblocks... Their weight, as a rule, does not exceed 80 kg. On such motoblocks, an engine is installed from 4 liters. from. up to 6 liters. from. Gasoline motoblocks are designed to handle areas of no more than 20 acres. The dolphin knife is a wide active cutter with dolphin-like blades.

The blades are located at a distance of 15-20 cm from each other, therefore, with such a nozzle, you can collect root crops in every second bed. To process the entire area of the site, you need to change the position of the active cutter. In addition, the dolphin knife goes too far into the soil, so it can cut part of the root crops.

The advantage of the dolphin knife is that it can be harvested on grassy areas. The blades of the knife cope with the strong root system and weed stems. Harvesting should be done in clear weather, otherwise dirt after rain can stick to the blades of the attachment. After harvesting in rainy weather, the cutter must be washed and sharpened.

Working with a comb attachment

The comb attachment is like a rake. Its blades constantly vibrate, throwing soil and roots to the surface. The disadvantage of the ridge is that it cannot be used to harvest crops on a grassy bed. There should be no stones in the soil either, otherwise the blades of the nozzle will break.

This nozzle does not cut the roots and covers every row. In addition, the vibration makes the soil friable, making picking potatoes by hand easier than using a dolphin knife. After harvesting with a comb, the roots will be clean.
