Abundantly blooming terry chubushnik Shneesturm

Please tell us about the chubushnik Shneesturm. Last year we planted two bushes in the country, but they have not bloomed yet. When should the mock-orange bloom? Friends from whom we took seedlings said that the inflorescences are very beautiful. Looking forward to summer to see this.

chubushnik shneeshturm Chubushnik Shneesturm is one of the new terry hybrids, distinguished by very spectacular flowering and large buds. This is the so-called girlish chubushnik, one of the parents of which is the Virginal variety. In translation, Virginal means "virgin", which gave the name to all the hybrids of the "girl" group, created on its basis, including Shneesturm.

What is a shrub?

Shneeshturm took only the best from the parent variety and even surpasses it in many ways. The vigorous bush grows quickly and branches well, soon turning into a 3-meter lush shrub with weeping shoots on the outside of the crown. The annual growth is up to 50 cm, which is almost double that of Virginal.

The variety is also often found under the name Blizzard or Snowfall.

chubushnik flowers

Like most chubushniks, Schneeshturm's foliage has a rich dark green color, which burns out and turns yellow in autumn. But at the end of June, the leaves are practically not visible under the long stuffed brushes. Each cluster contains up to 7 pieces of large terry inflorescences up to 5 cm in diameter, painted in a creamy white color and sweetly fragrant with strawberries. There are so many stuffed flowers in the brushes that the thin flexible branches of the chubushnik bend under their weight, and it seems as if the bush is covered with snowballs.

Blooms garden jasmine 3-4 years after planting.

Benefits of the variety

Chubushnik Shneeshturm is popular with gardeners due to its advantages:

  • fast growth;
  • good branching;
  • early and abundant flowering;
  • good disease resistance;
  • high frost resistance.

There are almost no shortcomings as such. The only thing that can be noted is weak flowering in the shade, fear of drafts and waterlogging.

Growing featureschubushnik bushes

Chubushnik A blizzard is one of the most capricious hybrids, not demanding on the soil. However, in order to preserve the large-flowered and abundant flowering characteristic of the variety, from the third year of life, the bush should be fed with organic matter and mineral complexes every year. In addition, it blooms best in sunny places protected from the wind.

It is worth avoiding wet areas where water stagnates - although the chubushnik loves it, but with an excess there is a risk of decay of the root system.

To maintain a beautiful shape, the chubushnik needs pruning:

  • the first "sanitary haircut" should be done in the spring, removing broken and frozen branches, as well as shoots that thicken the crown;
  • at the end of summer, after the end of flowering, cut off all dried inflorescences and young shoots and pinch annual branches.

Once every three years, it is recommended to carry out anti-aging pruning, replacing 3-4 stems with new shoots.

Winter frosts are not terrible for woody shoots, but young branches can suffer, so it is better to cover the bush in autumn.
