Planting potatoes

Site and soil selection
Potatoes Queen Anna needs a sufficient amount of sunlight, so for planting it is better to choose open, evenly lit areas. They must be protected from drafts.
Lowlands and wetlands are not suitable for growing plants. Also, do not choose areas in the shade of buildings or trees - this will slow down the growth of bushes, reduce the number of flowers and the size of tubers.
Queen Anna belongs to the universal varieties that do not have special soil requirements. But the best harvest can be obtained when grown on black soil, peat, loamy and sandy loam soils.
Preparation of soil and planting material
Preparing the soil for planting potatoes should be started in September-October. Dig the area to a depth of 20 cm, remove all weeds and fertilize with an ash solution. To prepare it, mix a bucket of compost with 500 g of ash. Organics can be replaced with mineral dressings - potassium nitrate, urea, superphosphate.
2 weeks before planting work, re-dig the soil and fertilize with nitrogen-containing fertilizers or organic fertilizers.
For planting potatoes Queen Anna, healthy medium-sized tubers selected at harvest are used. 7-10 days before work, sort out the root crops from all rotten, spoiled specimens.
After that, pour the sorted potatoes into boxes and place in a sunny place for 6-7 days for germination. As soon as the length of the shoots is 2-2.5 cm, you can start planting.
Landing algorithm
Queen Anne potatoes can be planted either in individual holes or in a pre-cut groove. When forming holes, you need to leave a distance of 20-30 cm between them, since the plant forms many tubers. Leave 50-70 cm between the rows - this is necessary for convenient weeding and hilling.
Landing scheme:
- prepare holes up to 8-15 cm deep for potatoes;
- place 1-2 tubers in the hole at a distance of 5-7 cm, sprouts up;
- sprinkle the tubers with a mixture of ash and compost;
- cover the holes or furrow with soil.
From above, you can additionally mulch potato beds with peat. The height of the peat layer must be at least 2 cm.
Potato care
Planting and caring for Koroleva Anna potatoes are carried out in accordance with standard agrotechnical rules. The main activities include watering, feeding, hilling, weed control, disease and pest control.
The frequency of watering potatoes depends on the weather conditions. With 2-3 rains per month, the culture does not need additional moisture. With prolonged drought, the plant is watered 6-7 days after planting, during the flowering period and after its completion.
Top dressing of this variety of potatoes is carried out three times - 5 weeks after planting (phosphate fertilizers, potassium phosphate or urea), during the blooming period (nitrogen-containing dressings).
The third feeding is carried out after the plant has faded. For this purpose, a solution of chicken manure is used - it stimulates the formation of tubers.
The first weeding can be carried out immediately after the first potato shoots appear - approximately 14-17 days after planting. The beds can be weeded again after the sprouts reach 15-20 cm in height.
An indispensable element of caring for Koroleva Anna potatoes is regular soil loosening. It helps to improve oxygenation of the culture. It is also advisable to loosen the soil after each watering.
Koroleva Anna potatoes are a novelty from German breeders, which have become widespread among farmers and gardeners in Russia. Its main advantages are ease of cultivation and unpretentious care, record high yield and excellent taste of root crops.
