Take your time to throw away the cyclamen after flowering is complete

On March 8, my son gave a wonderful flower in a pot - cyclamen. But soon it faded, shed its leaves and withered. I threw it in the trash. And then I learned that cyclamens go into hibernation like bears. Please tell us about the cultivation of this flower plant!

cyclamen blooms

Cyclamens do not like direct sunlight, so the pots of these flowers are best placed on western or even northern windowsills. For those who do not have southern windows in their apartments, cyclamen is just a godsend, as it blooms in partial shade.

During flowering, cyclamens are watered once every five days and constantly sprayed with water. It is best to water the cyclamen through a pan, since there is a danger of water getting on the bulb from above, and it rots from this. During the heating period, spraying should be carried out every day.

Gradually, the cyclamen fades, its leaves dry up, and it seems as if it is dying. But the flower just goes into a resting phase. At this time, watering should be reduced, but not stopped, since the roots of the flower are alive. It is better to remove the flower pot from the windowsill in a dark place.

The sleep period is the best time to transplant cyclamen. Carefully take out the flower with a lump of earth and place it in a wider and deeper container. No need to take a large vessel. The distance from the edge of the pot to the bulb should be approximately two to three centimeters. It is not necessary to deepen the bulb, one third of it may be above the soil surface.

After waking up, the appearance of new leaves, the cyclamen is again transferred to the window and watering is increased.
