Cyclamen dormant period: unknown versions and care features
Each plant has an amazing ability to cope with adverse growing / keeping conditions. But the dormant period of cyclamen is accompanied by the complete shedding of leaves from the bush. In this case, the tuber remains naked with dormant growth points. This is how the classic stage of flower inactivity appears before the gardener.
However, there are several other ways to relax. One of them is that a certain part of the foliage remains on the stems. It has the same dense structure and green color. At the same time, the embryos dry out completely and wait for the temperature to drop.
The third option is called combined. Several buds with foliage remain dormant, while the rest are still awake. However, they no longer grow, and therefore do not develop.
The dormant period of cyclamen and all its charms
A sign of the onset of such natural regression is yellow foliage, which later begins to gradually fall off. The whole process of "balding" a flower takes from 35 to 45 days. Now that the tuber has entered the resting stage, you need to properly care for it. These three points of departure are determined:
- Storage. It is not advised to move the pot to a cool / dark room, because the frosty freshness serves as a wake-up call for it. Therefore, it is better to remove the container from the window and put it in a conspicuous place in the room.
- Irrigation technology. Since their roots remain alive and resilient, and not dying off, they will need moderate moisture. Plain water without fertilizers applied in portions every 5-7 days, while you can use a 25 ml pear. Water the soil from above so that the lump is completely saturated, and wait until the liquid drains.
- Cyclamen transplant during the rest period. Many transplant the plant into a new pot and send it away longer from the heat. Still, such a manipulation is risky. Otherwise, they will wake up earlier than the appointed time.
As soon as the culture begins to wake up, it is recommended to replant it and increase the number of watering. The procedure should be carried out when the leaves reach 2-3 cm in diameter.
Watch the tuber very closely when small sprouts appear. After all, old growth points can dry out and just break off.
Florists often argue that the dormant period for cyclamen takes place in the summer season. However, seed-grown specimens, in most cases, adapt to local conditions.
