How is the picking of alyssum seedlings carried out
It is no secret that the seedling method of growing alissum is very popular, because it brings its flowering closer. Besides correct sowing, one of the important points is picking seedlings alissum. Today we will tell you when and why it is held, as well as how best do it.

Most often, seeds are sown in a common container, which means that picking in this case is simply inevitable. You can do without transplanting if sowing in separate containers (as is done with seeds petunias). However, this procedure is quite laborious, because the seeds of alyssum are very small. It is much more convenient to sow them in a common container with further picks for growing.
You can start picking seedlings when it reaches about 4 weeks of age. By this time, the seedlings have already formed at least a couple of true leaves.
In the literature you can find information that seedlings Alyssum cannot be dived. Many growers who transplanted seedlings complain that half of the landings die. This is partly true, because alissum differs in increased fragility. The stalk of a young plant and the roots themselves are very thin and brittle. But if you are careful, the dive will pass painless for alyssum.
Picking Alyssum seedlings - step by step instructions
In order not to damage the seedlings, you will need tweezers and a wooden plank with a length slightly shorter than the width of the transplant container to dive. The container itself should not be too deep.
Fill it with a light substrate, level it and you can start picking:
- Remove the seedlings very carefully with tweezers. Having grabbed a clod of earth as deep as possible, get it out of the general container.
- In a new container for seedlings, make a groove with a bar, deepening it into the ground.
- Divide the removed seedlings with your hands one by one and put in the hole. The distance between the bushes must be kept at least 2-3 cm. If the seedlings will be in the box for a long time, the distance must be doubled.
- When the groove is filled with seedlings, gently press them with the same bar, holding it with the ground and filling the bed.
- Make the next groove, stepping back 4-5 cm, and repeat the procedure.
If you do everything carefully, the harm from picking seedlings alyssum will be minimal. The only negative is that the transplanted plants will take up much more space. But, thus, the seedlings will receive more space for development and will grow strong and healthy.
