Popular varieties of dieffenbachia

Dieffenbachia varieties Who among us has not dreamed of a gorgeous Dieffenbachia? Its large and beautiful leaves on a powerful trunk serve as a decoration for the interior and give it coziness, while at the same time bringing a fresh natural touch. Thanks to the most diverse coloring of leaf plates, everyone can choose a plant to their taste (and for their interior), and this article will help to determine the choice of a specific variety.

There are about four dozen types of flowers, almost all of them can be grown at home. Perhaps the most famous and beautiful among them are Dieffenbachia varieties:

  • Leopold;
  • lovely;
  • spotted;
  • Seguin.

Dieffenbachia Leopold

The plant has a very short (compared to other species) stem, its maximum height is only 5 cm. Quite large oval leaves are also attached to it with short pale petioles. Their length does not exceed 35 cm and a width of 15 cm. A white vein runs in the center of the leaf, and the plate itself is painted in a rich dark green color.

During flowering, a small ear (9 cm in length) appears at the top among the leaves, wrapped in a white-green blanket, the size of which is twice the size of the inflorescence.

The variety likes good lighting, but does not tolerate direct rays.

Differs in large sizes, both trunk and leaves. The stem can grow up to 1.5 m, and the length of the leaf plate is 1/3 of the total plant height (up to 50 cm). The main color of the leaves is dark green, in the center there is a vein of a lighter tone, and wide white stripes diverge from it to the sides.

The variety tolerates partial shade and high temperatures, but is often affected by spider mites.

Dieffenbachia spotted

A medium-sized plant (no more than 1 m in height) has large leaves up to 40 cm in length. They are located on long petioles, have a slightly elongated shape and a slightly sharp tip. A distinctive feature of the species are light spots, not stripes, on green leaves.

During flowering, it releases a yellow ear, wrapped in a yellow-green veil.

Dieffenbachia Seguin

It has an external resemblance to the spotted variety of a flower, but its leaves are wider, and spots on them are less frequent. The variety usually has no more than 12 lateral veins.
