Planting a linden tree: how to choose a comfortable place in the garden for a honey plant

planting linden Linden is valued for its unpretentiousness, it looks beautiful and is a good honey plant. The correct planting of linden will allow you to easily grow a gorgeous tree and enjoy its intoxicating aroma for many years.

Where is it better to plant

Linden will grow anywhere, be it sun or shade. However, a well-lit area should be preferred. In this case, it will bloom more abundantly.

Regardless of the species, linden grows best in fertile land. Clay soil and loam should be lightened and enriched. For this, peat and sand are introduced into the site.

Linden itself has the ability to improve the soil. Fallen leaves, decaying, enrich it with calcium, potassium, sulfur and nitrogen.

Planting linden step by step

It is necessary to prepare not only the soil, but also the linden seedling itself. It is more convenient to do this even before disembarking, so as not to pull the tree later. With help secateurs for a seedling, it is necessary to cut the crown by shortening the branches and giving the tree the desired shape, if it is formed. Thus, pruning stimulates the awakening of dormant buds, which means that the young crown will be thick and lush.

The sections should be oblique and in front of the kidney.

The process of planting a seedling itself does not differ from planting other garden trees:

  1. You need to dig a planting hole according to the size of the seedling root system, with a small margin.
  2. Pour rubble at the bottom of the pit to create a drainage layer.
  3. Cover the top with humus mixed with a small amount of superphosphate.
  4. Set the linden in the center. If the roots are wrapped in burlap, you can leave it - such material will rot over time and will not interfere with growth. But the wire holding the roots together must be removed.
  5. Cover the tree with fertile soil (mix turf soil with sand and humus).
  6. Make a near-trunk circle in the form of a depression around the linden tree. This will prevent the water from flowing out when watering.
  7. Water abundantly.
  8. Install a support peg to which you want to tie the seedling.

At the point of contact of the support, the linden trunk must be tied with burlap. Otherwise, friction damage will result.

When planting a linden, it is worth considering its variety, namely, the size of an adult tree. Large varieties require a lot of space, and at least 5 m should be left between the seedlings. Lindens with a narrow crown can grow at a distance of 1-2 m from each other.
