Correct arrangement of the well

correct arrangement of the well A well is a constant source of technical or drinking water at a summer cottage and in a private house. Drilling a sand well is an expensive process, so many summer residents save on its construction. The space between the soil and the casing walls is covered with gravel.

Disadvantages of an unfinished well

Just fill up the gap between well and the soil is not enough. With this technology, wastewater and melt water can easily enter the aquifer. Contaminated water should not be used for washing dishes, cooking or drinking.

In addition, an unfinished well is very difficult to repair. Over time, the water holes become clogged with dirt, so pressurized water must be pumped into the casing. In order to flush the well, you must install a water pump.

Well concreting

In order to equip the well, the gap between the earth walls and the walls of the casing is concreted. To prepare a concrete solution, you must use:

  • one part of cement;
  • three pieces of sand;
  • one part of crushed pebbles or gravel.

You should have a thick solution, which is poured into gaps through a thin hose or pipe.

In no case should the solution touch the earthen walls, otherwise it will block the access of water to the well.

After the gaps between the casing and the ground are concreted, you need to dig a hole, the height of which is slightly higher than the soil freezing depth in your area. This "reservoir" is dug at a slight slope away from the well casing. In this pit, flat floors and walls are concreted.

Why do you need to dig in a well

Such a pit is necessary in order to ensure the possibility of convenient repair. The slope directed from the well ensures the drainage of dirty and melt water. A moisture-proof junction box is installed inside the pit, through which the cable is passed to the pump.

If the casing is made of plastic, a 60 cm steel head must be purchased. To protect the well, cover it with a concrete cover.

If a metal hatch is used, condensation will form. It pollutes the well water.

Well insulation

So that the water in the well does not freeze, the concrete walls of the container are insulated with expanded polystyrene. Foam is also used to insulate the well. After insulating the concrete walls, you will be able to receive water from the well all year round.
