Simple swing for a child - affordable, beautiful and safe
Today, for children in the store, you can buy everything from clothes to whole playgrounds. However, if you know how to work with tools, it is not difficult to make a simple swing for a child at home. All that is needed for this is a little skill and a minimum of material. For example, a reliable swing can be quickly made from scraps of planks and pipes left over from repairs. They will not require large investments, but they will definitely be stronger than plastic store models, which quickly break down.
What will we do
In order to please the smallest family members, but at the same time to secure their leisure time, we will need:
- a piece of plywood or a wide board of any size;
- 4 wooden blocks;
- 4 pieces of PVC pipes of the same length;
- rope.
It will be more comfortable for a child to sit if the plywood for the seat is not square, but rectangular, for example, 45x25 cm.
Simple swing for a child - we do it step by step
The whole process of making a swing can be divided into two stages: the preparation of structural parts (seat and handrails) and the assembly itself. Let's consider each of them in detail.
How to make a seat and handrails
A piece of plywood will act as a seat. It needs to be cleaned so that the surface is completely smooth. 4 holes must be drilled to secure the side rails and rope at the corners.
Bars will serve as handrails. They also need to be well cleaned and rounded off. Holes for the rope should be drilled at both ends of each block. By the way, the length of the bars should be equal to the length of the sides of the seat. For example, if it is rectangular, then 2 bars will be longer and 2 bars will be shorter.
It remains only to cut from PVC pipes 4 identical pieces. They will be installed between the seat and the handrail, and there is a rope stretched inside.
Before you start drilling, the blocks must be placed on the plywood and make sure that the holes on these parts match.
The sequence of assembling a children's swing
The assembly of the elements consists in pulling the rope through each part, while it is important to observe the sequence, namely:
- First you need to pull the rope through the hole in the long bar.
- Attach a short bar by threading the rope through the hole.
- Pull the rope through the tube.
- Insert into the hole on one of the sides of the seat (from top to bottom).
- Run the rope under the bottom of the seat on the same side and pull it out of the hole in the second corner (from bottom to top).
- Now thread the string through the second tube by inserting it into the lower end.
- Attach a short bar that is already secured at one end to the rope.
- Pass the rope through the second plank from the bottom.
Thus, we have assembled one side of the swing. It is only necessary to stretch the rope to the desired height at which the swing will hang. The second side is assembled according to the same principle. It remains only to hang such a simple swing for a child, fixing the upper ends of the rope on a tree branch.
