Delicate charm of your garden - rose Pierre de Ronsard, photo and description

What species does the Pierre de Ronsard rose belong to? It would be interesting to see a photo and description of this variety. I bought a young seedling in the spring, there was no name tag. The seller only said that it blooms very magnificently and blooms for a long time, all summer. The bush took root, and by the fall it gave a lot of branches, but there were no buds yet. An interesting form begins to form. An almost small tree has grown from three branches, with young shoots leaving aside. So I became curious about what would come of it.

rose pierre de ronsard photo and description It can rightfully be called the most beautiful rose among terry varieties, while a persistent plant is hidden under an elegant look. Rose Pierre de Ronsard, a photo and description of which is known all over the world, was born in France. She is completely consistent with her romantic homeland, because she personifies the very tenderness, ranging from almost thornless shoots to large stuffed rose buds.

The variety is named after the French poet, but is known under his name mainly in its homeland. Its international name is more "speaking" - the Paradise rose, the Rose of Eden.

rose bush pierre de ronsard

According to the structure of the bush, the rose belongs to the climbing species, but it is a climber. Unlike climbing roses (ramblers) with thin flexible branches and single flowering, climber shoots are rough, straight and require support, but flowering lasts the entire summer period.

This is exactly what the Pierre de Ronsard variety turned out to be. The bush consists of numerous rigid branches, almost without thorns, unable to curl along the support. It grows more than 3 m in height, and is half its height in diameter. However, this does not prevent the shrub from remaining neat due to the fact that straight branches gracefully bend under the weight of numerous buds and diverge to the side in arcs.

The variety can be grown on a trunk. It is frost-resistant, tolerates drought well and temperature drops to minus 23 ° C. Resistant to powdery mildew and black spot, but vulnerable to high humidity. In a rainy summer, the buds lack sun and warmth and do not have time to open.

Flowering features

rose bloom pierre de ronsardUnder ideal conditions for which this variety was created, the rose blooms from early summer to early autumn without interruption. But this is possible only in hot and dry summers and mainly in Mediterranean climates.

In Russian gardens, most often flowering takes place in two waves, lasting almost a month and with the same break:

  • the first flowering occurs in the last decade of June;
  • the second wave begins in mid-August.

rosebuds pierre de ronsardThe largest roses are from the first wave, their diameter reaches 15 cm, and up to 3 pieces are tied on each branch. Roses with "increased terry", because in one full and heavy bud there are at least fifty petals. When the flower is fully opened, it takes on the shape of a bowl. The petals themselves are ivory, but with crimson-carmine edges. Because of this, when the roses are still at the half-opening stage, it seems that their middle is darker.

Flowers have almost no aroma and are rarely used for cutting, because they are not intended for this. But a cut twig can stand in a vase for about a week.
