Charming garden jasmine - terry chubushnik

Terry chubushnik blooms Among garden jasmines, terry chubushniks are especially popular, and you can understand the reason for such love when the shrubs enter the time of flowering. If small flowers appear in small quantities on an ordinary chubushnik, then terry varieties are completely covered with huge and stuffed inflorescences. From the outside it seems that this is just a big bush with white roses - there are so many of them that the leaves are practically invisible.

Features of terry chubushniks

Terry varieties garden jasmine were bred by breeders on the basis of crossing common species. As a result, shrubs of amazing beauty turned out, with their own advantages and disadvantages. Some species have a characteristic odor, others are completely odorless, and still others have their own shades.

Perhaps the only drawback of terry chubushniks is their low winter hardiness.

Almost all varieties of lush-flowered jasmine often freeze under frosty winters and therefore need shelter, especially at a young age.

Types of garden terry jasmine

Today, there are more than 60 types of garden jasmine, but there are not so many terry among them.

Terry types of chubushnik include the following varieties:

  • Anshatman - late flowering;
  • Pyramidal - also blooms late, grows up to 3 m in height, large flowers have a very faint odor;
  • Glacier is a medium-sized bush no more than 1.5 m in height, fragrant inflorescences are collected in a brush;
  • Virginal is a tall (up to 3 m) bush that can bloom twice a season, the flowers have a sweet, pungent odor;
  • Girandol is a medium-sized bush with drooping shoots, the flowers are painted in a pale cream color, the aroma is barely audible;
  • The Arctic is a compact plant with not very large inflorescences and a weak aroma;
  • Ballet of moths - the height of the bush is 1.5 m, the branches are abundantly covered with white flowers;
  • Ermine mantle - differs from other species in long flowering and strawberry aroma, inflorescences have a creamy shade;
  • Junnat - has one of the largest flowers, smelling of strawberries;
  • Snowstorm is a compact, richly flowering plant.

Experienced gardeners recommend using for growing "local" varieties of terry chubushnik, which were bred by Russian scientists. The imported varieties are not well adapted to our low winter temperatures.
