  2. Power tools with an electric motor or internal combustion. At the same time, the emission of snow reaches 12-15 m, but these are no longer auger shovels in the literal sense of the word, but rather a means of small mechanization or a hitch for a mini tractor, walk-behind tractor.

The latter are divided according to the type of movement:

  1. On wheels or skis. Set in motion by human efforts.
  2. Self-propelled - on wheels or tracks. Here, a person controls the unit by means of a handle.

When working with ordinary pawls, a large load is applied to the shoulders and back. Especially when the snowy area is large. With the help of a hand auger shovel, the work can be greatly facilitated.

The tool can be made in 2 versions - manual and mechanized. The first will require:

  1. Make a semicircular snow collection chamber of galvanized steel, in the upper part, closer to one of the edges, cut a hole for the outlet pipe. The sides must be strong enough to hold the shaft - a pipe or rod with a diameter of 2 cm or more. They can be made of moisture-resistant plywood or PCB.
  2. Weld strips to the shaft, on which blades made of dense rubber or sheet steel will be attached.
  3. Fasten the hubs to the sidewalls.
  4. Equip the shaft with bearings.
  5. Insert the finished auger.
  6. Install the outlet pipe.
  7. Attach a handle.

The snow shovel with auger can be considered ready.

When making the auger, you should maintain an equal distance between the blades (spiral pitch) and choose the correct direction of rotation.

If you install a homemade shovel with auger on wheels, then snow removal will become more effective. It can also be adapted to a walk-behind tractor and mechanized the process.

The frame is installed on wheels or runners - they can be made from a bar and sheathed with thin sheet metal, plastic, or you can use a watering hose with a large diameter, cutting it lengthwise.

A motor from a walk-behind tractor or an engine with a power of 5-6 kW, revolutions - up to 1500 is installed on the frame. The drive is carried out by a chain reducer using bicycle sprockets.

The auger is made of a pipe, 4 metal blades of such a size that they can rotate freely without touching the walls of the snow receiver. A plate is welded in the center of the pipe, which serves as a shovel for prying off the snow mass. Two blades should be directed in one direction, two - in the opposite direction, towards each other.

A nozzle is made in the center of the snow receiver (the hole should coincide with the throwing blade), and to it - a branch pipe, on which a sleeve is put on to divert the mass to the side. The finished structure is fixed on a frame with wheels or skis.

drawingThe manufacture of this unit is rather complicated. It is often used as a nozzle for a walk-behind tractor. The presence of a rotor with blades improves the capture of the snow mass and increases the distance of its throw up to 13-15 m by means of the sleeve.

A screw snow blower is assembled, as in the previous case, then a rotor, the body of which is made from a cylinder, for example, a gas cylinder. Then it connects to the snow blower box in the nozzle area. The rotor is assembled from a shaft with bearings and an impeller with blades according to the diagram below.

The speed of the walk-behind tractor with a snowplow should be 2-4 km / h. The speed of rotation of the auger will determine the distance of the snow mass discharge.
