Planting abutilone correctly: how to choose the right pot and soil

abutilone on the windowsill All growers who grow abutilon know that, in principle, this flower is capable of tying inflorescences very quickly. Within a few months after planting, buds may form on a young plant. However, sometimes there are situations when the plant does not bloom, and most often this is due to the wrong selection of the pot. To avoid this phenomenon, you need to know exactly what capacity the flower needs and what kind of soil it loves.

Which pot is best?

Abutilon a small pot is needed. Otherwise, the young bush will begin to actively grow the root system to fill the space. And until the roots cover the whole earthy lump, there will be no flowers on it.

However, this does not mean at all that young plants should be planted in tall and narrow cups. If the container is too small, the bush will begin to actively stretch upward, and there will be very few side shoots. The crown of such an abutilon will grow disheveled and runny.

The most optimal pot for abutilon should be 13 cm in diameter and be tall enough.

You should also avoid containers of black color, even if only as a temporary flowerpot. On the window, under the influence of sunlight, such a pot will quickly heat up, which will lead to general overheating of the earth in it and damage to the roots. In addition, dark walls hide what is happening inside from the eyes. Thus, it will be possible to skip the next plant transplant, which will negatively affect it. After all, if the roots are intertwined, they will stop breathing and develop, and the flower will begin to disappear.

It has been noticed by practicing growers that the roots also quickly intertwine in pots with opaque walls, in contrast to the containers in which orchids are usually grown. When planted in such a pot of abutilon, its root system develops more evenly.

What kind of land does Abutilon like?

There will be no particular difficulties with the choice of soil, it must meet only two requirements - be light and nutritious. Most often, abutilones are planted in an ordinary universal substrate purchased at a flower shop. But if you wish, you can make a similar mixture yourself by mixing:

  • two parts of sod land;
  • one part of humus and leafy earth;
  • half a part of coarse sand.

Plants need to be replanted annually to replenish nutrient stores on time.
