Blueberry varieties: superiority of one over the other

Still, plants need competent care. The soil is acidified once a month, from May to September. Use vinegar for this. The landing pit (diameter 60 cm) is filled with:

- sand;
- sulfur, which is necessary to regulate the acidity of the soil, if there is black soil.
It is not recommended to isolate the well, since then the liquid will not drain off in sufficient quantities. Also, the thermal balance between the root system and the ground will be drastically disrupted. However, many people like to plant the bushes in forcing containers.
The "Toro" variety is very fond of gardeners. It should be borne in mind that it has a spreading crown, so it is placed away from other exhibits. The yield of such a gonobel is about two kilograms.
Mr. "Duke" and his followers
Duke is recognized as a productive variety. On a powerful bush grow large berries (2 cm in diameter). It is the congestion of the branches with fruits that attracts many farmers. The height of the shoots is 1.2-1.8 meters. During the budding period, blueberries will need abundant watering. In extreme heat, the bush is irrigated with a bucket of water every 3-4 days. In other cases, 2 buckets of liquid are poured under it once a week. All blueberry varieties are in dire need of this procedure. Among other things, it is better to choose one of the following fertile varieties for your plantation:
- "Patriot". For him, a temperature of -34 ° C is considered normal, so it is suitable for northern regions.
- Chandler. It has a long fruiting period, and its berries grow up to 2 cm.
- "Bluecrop". Flowering culture does not die even at -7 ° C. The hybrid "River" derived from it is also popular.
- "Aurora". Medium fruits load the branches amazingly.
Timely pruning affects the strength of plant development. If you do not do it, then with each season the berries will become smaller.
Rounding out the four are Elizabeth and Sunrise. All of these specimens are late blueberry varieties. The average yield of each of them is from 4 kg per hectare. Cultures grow up to 65 years old. Nevertheless, after 5-6 years, they do a major pruning, leaving strong young shoots. They should grow straight from the rhizome. All the space around them is mulched with fine bark.
