Eremurus - a perennial flower for growing in the country

Breeders have bred more than 30 varieties of Eremurus. This perennial flower can be yellow, there are also varieties of white, light red or burgundy. The name "Eremurus" is translated from Latin as "Fluffy Tail". There can be up to 5 peduncles on the bush, which stretch out towards the sun and bloom with a lush brush of small fragrant flowers. This perennial flower is strong honey plant, even in cloudy weather, it attracts pollinating insects. Therefore, if your plants on the site are not sufficiently pollinated, plant an eremurus bush near them, after the flowering of the honey plant, bees and other pollinating insects will fly to other plants in your garden.

Because of its strong odor, eremurus also attracts pests to itself, therefore, it is necessary to take care of a perennial flower.

Eremurus care

At the beginning of July, copper-containing preparations must be added to the soil. During flowering, feed the eremurus with potash fertilizers.

Pay attention to flower beetles, they love to climb into the lush brush of the peduncle and eat flowers. Pests can destroy up to 50 flowers at a time, so in the midst of flowering, treat the eremurus with insecticidal preparations.

Eremurus is an unpretentious perennial flower. It can grow in one place for 25 years, while the flower stalks do not decrease in size, and the shrub does not lose its decorative appearance. It responds well to organic feeding. In the summer, rotted cow dung or humus can be added to the soil, then the flowers will bloom a little earlier.

Reproduction of eremurus

In nature, Eremurus propagates by seeds. The new plant forms a vegetative mass within five years. In the sixth year, the perennial flower opens its first buds.

Gardeners propagate eremurus by dividing the rhizome. Division is carried out in early spring or autumn, when sap flow has not yet begun or has already ended.

If you want to propagate Eremurus in your area, divide the bushes of three years old. Only a strengthened root system will survive the transplant.
