Planting and caring for a beautiful white acacia tree

white acacia blooms magnificently White acacia grows well in the southern regions and in the temperate zone. Its planting and care is not difficult: it is enough to take into account the features of an unpretentious tree.

Trees are an indispensable element of landscaping the site, and acacia is great for solving this problem. It has a decorative appearance, its flowers exude a pleasant but unobtrusive aroma, and no special care of the plant is required. In addition, it tolerates adverse weather conditions well and grows rapidly, including in the middle zone.

From a botanical point of view, the name of the species is incorrect: by "white acacia" they mean pseudoacacia robinia. She is the closest relative of the “true” acacia, entering with her into the legume family, but the genera of plants are different.

This is a sprawling tree with an openwork crown, reaching a height of up to 18 m. It grows very quickly: by the age of 3 years of life it stretches up to 5 m. The leaves are bright green. The flowers that adorn the tree from late May to July look like small white moths. They are collected in drooping bunches. The inflorescences smell good and attract bees, so the tree is a honey plant.

In the southern regions, robinia is an evergreen plant, but in the middle lane it sheds foliage, which becomes golden in autumn.

mature acacia treeRobinia is a valuable decorative culture. It is used in group and single plantings to decorate plots near houses and institutions, streets, alleys and parks. You can appreciate its beauty on a photo of a white acacia in landscape design.

Every year, acacia grows about 80-100 cm in height (growth is especially intense in young trees), and in the width of the crown - 30 cm.

Landing

seedlings of white acaciaThere are two ways of reproduction - by seeds (germination in a greenhouse) and by root shoots. The second option is used more often because it is faster and easier.

Start preparing for landing by choosing a place. For this, it is useful to know the preferences of Robinia:

  • the tree loves sunlight, so it is recommended to plant it in open areas;
  • false acacia tolerates air pollution well, and it is suitable for landscaping areas in cities and regions with poor ecology;
  • the plant is frost-resistant: it can be planted in temperate climates, because adult specimens can withstand temperatures down to -35 ° C;
  • reacts painfully to cold wind and drafts;
  • undemanding to soil, but prefers light soil (with no or minimal amount of clay) and does not tolerate stagnant water.

Planting and caring for white acacia, the photo of which does not convey all the beauty of the tree, is not particularly difficult. The climate should be taken into account: if northern winds are characteristic of the region, then it is recommended to plant the white acacia in a place protected from them. For example, behind the wall of a house or trees with a dense crown.

white acacia careMature trees usually produce root growth. It is enough to dig up the process and plant it in a new place. To do this, make a small hole, fix the plant in it and shed the soil. Very soon the seedling will take root and start growing rapidly.

White acacia does not like turfed ground. Therefore, the root area must be weeded, removing weeds with long roots, and mulch. For the same reason, it is not recommended to plant a tree in the vicinity of fruit trees with a developed root system.

It is a little more difficult to propagate pseudoacacia robinia by seeds.The beans ripen by the end of November, after which they are harvested and stored in paper in the refrigerator. The best time to plant is spring.

Seeds must undergo pre-sowing treatment: scalding with boiling water, followed by immersion in cold water for 12 hours. Then they are planted in loose soil or a greenhouse. The optimum temperature for the development of young white acacias is between 22 ° C and 25 ° C. By the end of the year, the seedlings reach 1 m.The next spring they can be transplanted to a permanent place.

The distance between the planted seeds must be at least 20 cm.

Care advice

sheltering seedlings for the winterYoung seedlings need special care. The soil around them needs to be weeded and loosened regularly. To make the plant grow faster, it is recommended to make organic feeding and spray it with a phytostimulant (for example, "Epin"). In regions with cold winters, young specimens are covered so that they are not destroyed by frost.

Adult white acacias are undemanding to care for. They do not need to be insulated for the winter. Usually, the tree is content with natural precipitation, so additional watering is needed only in very dry summers.

Plus white acacia - enviable resistance to pests and diseases.

All robinia respond well to organic applications. Rotten is great manure... On fertile soils, two dressings will be enough: at the beginning of spring and at the beginning of flowering, and not depleted fertilization is recommended to be carried out every month.

White acacias lend themselves well to crown formation and tolerate shoot pruning. The optimal time for the procedure is early spring. Remove dry shoots and growth around the roots.

Planting white acacia and care in the suburbs (as well as in others in regions with a similar climate) does not require much time and effort. The main thing is to choose a bright place for the tree without stagnant water. Young specimens need a little more attention: watering and shelter for the winter, and adult robinias grow well without much care, pleasing the eye with snow-white bunches of flowers.
