I planted a Chinese spherical chrysanthemum in the country, at least under that name I bought it. Tell us what kind of variety it is and how does the Chinese spherical chrysanthemum differ from other species of this flower?

What is special about chrysanthemums?

Chinese spherical chrysanthemums are easily distinguished by the following features:

  • they are compact and rarely grow above 70 cm;
  • the bushes are independently formed in the form of a ball, which is reflected in the name of the species;
  • flowering is very long and abundant: some varieties bloom already at the end of summer, and under a myriad of inflorescences, foliage is almost invisible.

Grow globular chrysanthemum easy and pleasant: watering and feeding are perhaps the only mandatory activities. The bushes do not need shaping pruning - they do an excellent job with this task themselves.

The only drawback of Chinese chrysanthemums is their low frost resistance, so for the winter they must be dug up and taken to the basement. Or growing flowers in pots as an indoor culture - this species does well indoors.

Classification by size

All hybrid varieties of Chinese chrysanthemum can be divided into three groups:

  • undersized (the maximum height of the bush does not exceed 30 cm);
  • medium-sized (grow up to 50 cm);
  • tall (up to 70 cm in height).

Known species

Today, there are more than 4,000 hybrids with the most varied color of inflorescences, among which there are even green and blue chrysanthemums. Some of the most beautiful "Chinese lanterns" are varieties:
