Undemanding "aggressor" - sumac tree

sumac tree When it is not possible to choose fertile soil and painstakingly care for the plants, then sumac comes to the rescue. This tree is hardy and unpretentious. Moreover, luxurious pyramidal blooms adorn the garden not only in autumn, but also in winter. Since the surface of the fruit is velvety, it is pleasant to hold it in your hands. To make sumac an inhabitant of your summer cottage, you need to learn some rules.

With character

Canada and the United States are considered the birthplace of the "deer horn" (one of the names). In total, about 150 species of woody plant are known. Its spreading crown extends to a height of 10-12 meters. In summer, the branches are decorated with green leaves, collected in volumetric shields. In autumn, they take on a fiery red hue, and the garden explodes with new colors. The variety is cultivated on different types of soils:

  • sandy loam;
  • dry stony;
  • sour;
  • salt marshes.

Nevertheless, the vinegar tree does not tolerate the increased humidity of the earth with possible stagnation of water and the proximity of ground streams. The aggressive nature of the culture is noticeable a couple of years after planting. In the area where it grows, many shoots appear. If they are not cut off in time, then over time there will be a real jungle in that place.

To limit the process of active release of layers, you need to make fences a few meters from the roots. Metal plates or other available material is driven into the ground.

With a shovel in hand

Choose light and large areas for sumach. In the shade or partial shade, the leaves will become faded, and the flowering - poor. Landing is carried out according to the following scheme:

  • dig a hole with sides, as well as a depth of half a meter;
  • pour ½ a bucket of rotten humus;
  • mix fertilizer with soil;
  • pour 10 liters of water;
  • after the liquid is absorbed, the seedling is settled and the pit is filled with the planting substrate;
  • carry out the final watering.

In this case, it is important to ensure that the root collar does not sink too deep into the ground. Some gardeners recommend feeding the soil. Nitrogen complexes are used in the spring, and in the summer - mineral... Then the crown will be lush, foliage - healthy, flowering - luxurious.

Sumac is also propagated by seeds. Before planting, they are conscientiously treated with a grindstone. They are buried in the ground by 10-12 cm. After 20-30 days, small sprouts are expected to appear.

Thanks to the excellent decorative properties of vinegar, they create magnificent garden compositions. If you hardly plant a few seedlings, you get an unsurpassed hedge. In the rays of the setting sun, red candles will flicker with amazing lights.
