Philodendron is a gorgeous plant, but often a green bush after acquisition begins to disappear after a couple of weeks. What to do with a flower after purchase?
The most common cause of philodendron diseases is a change in care. In the store, he is heavily fed, moreover, they are constantly watered. Have you noticed that the soil in the pots of this crop is moist all the time? And if you also add water to it at home, it is not surprising that soon the flower begins to hurt.
The first sign is the appearance of black spots on the leaf plate. They mean that the root system is suffering from excess moisture.
In order to prevent the disease from developing further and to save the philodendron, it is necessary to take urgent measures, namely:
- remove the top layer of the earth;
- gently loosen the soil around the edges pot;
- put the flowerpot in a warm and bright place so that the soil dries out faster.
If there is a possibility or a real swamp in a pot, it is better to transplant the philodendron into a new substrate altogether.
Philodendron: home care
These tropical beauties love moderation in grooming, and excessive care, on the contrary, can destroy plants. It is especially important to avoid a repetition of the overflow situation. Watering the philodendron should be good, but rarely - once every two weeks. In winter, especially if the room is not very hot, you can even less often.
But with the choice of residence, you will need to think. There are several varieties of philodendron, each with their own lighting requirements. At the same time, it is not necessary to know the name of the variety, it is enough just to look at the color of the leaves:
- varieties with variegated leaves (light spots or stripes on a green background) are demanding on light and feel good on windows;
- species with solid leaves grow better in diffused lighting in the back of the room.
Do not forget that the philodendron is a liana, therefore it needs support. If you do not plan to grow meter-long stems, you can pinch them, and then you get a kind of bush.
