Artificial stones and sculptures made of concrete in the country and in the garden

This truly amazing design idea will take very little to implement: desire, diligence and, of course, imagination. And if the master has the talent of a sculptor, then real works of art can come out from under his hands.

Preparation of the sculpture solution

For making sculptures use gypsum or concrete. Concrete is made like this: cement and sand are mixed in a ratio of 1 to 3. Then water is added in small portions, which makes up about half the volume of cement. The kneading process is similar to making dough.

Cement mortar

In order for the plasticity of concrete to be higher, PVA is added to the usual composition. The moisture resistance of the finished product is increased by adding liquid nails to the mixture.

The readiness of the solution is checked as follows: squeeze a little of the mixture in a fist, open the palm and make a depression with something. If water appears in the hole, then there is excess water in the concrete. In this case, cement is added to the mixture.

Preparation of cement mortar

Sometimes the piece starts to crumble right away. This means that you need to add water to the solution.

Molding method of making figurines

Even the most inexperienced in sculpting people can make a mushroom clearing out of concrete or gypsum or a cheerful forest man in a mushroom hat, a ladybug or a turtle walking along track... Using the molding method, it is easy to fabricate a concrete hemisphere. After a little additional work on the blank, adding details and coloring, the master will receive a cute figurine to decorate his site.

Concrete turtle

You can use half of a rubber ball as a shape for a hemisphere. To do this, cut it in half and put it in a bowl of sand. Only then can you start pouring the mold with concrete or plaster. If you put the rubber hemisphere on the floor or the ground, then you will get a notch on the bottom of the dried part.

Pouring concrete into a mold

A bowl can be used to form the shell of a turtle and some types of mushrooms. But for the convenience of removing the part, it is best to put polyethylene on the bottom of the mold.

Mushroom making

After pouring the mold-hemisphere for the mushroom, you need to put and slightly drown a plastic bottle with a cut neck in the concrete.

Forming a notch in the mushroom cap

The eggplant is also filled with mass. But first, a metal rod should be installed in it so that it protrudes slightly above the cut. Then it will be convenient to set the figure vertically, sticking it into the ground.

Pouring the leg of the mushroom

After a while, when the concrete seizes in a semicircular shape, the bottle must be removed - there should be a recess. The ball is removed from the concrete cap part. If cracks or voids appear on the surface of the future cap, they can be covered with mortar or putty. The part is dried a little more to absolute hardness.

Mushroom figurine blank

You also need to remove the bottle from the leg. It can be cut with a sharp knife. Also, cracks and voids should be putty.

Concrete mushroom sculptures

Since mushrooms usually grow in families, you can make several fillings of different sizes at once. You will need balls of a slightly smaller diameter. Or it will be necessary to pour concrete into the other half just below the previous level. Disposable half-liter glasses can be used as a mold for the leg.

Glass as a shape

When the details have acquired the required hardness, they are coated with a primer and joined into a common figure. Then, about an hour later, you can start coloring. To make the figurine shine, the master can varnish it.

Making a turtle

On the tortoise shell, after removing it from the mold, you need to draw a drawing with a stick. Until the part is completely dry, it is possible to do this. If the drawing comes out of poor quality, you can apply a thin layer of mortar or putty and apply hexagons to the shell freshly or lay it out with pebbles, make a mosaic from pieces of glass.

Concrete turtles

If you wish, you can add her paws, tail, head. But then, already during pouring, metal pins are inserted into the solution. Later, the limbs and the neck with the head will stick on them.

Frame sculpture

Casting large pieces is quite difficult. It is all the more difficult to find the desired shape. Therefore, frames are used to create such sculptures.

Materials required to create a skeleton sculpture

If a decision is made to make concrete figures with his own hands, the master needs to stock up

  • concrete;
  • aluminum wire or netting for the frame;
  • plastic wrap;
  • foam, old buckets, tubs, metal barrels to lighten the weight of the figure and reduce the volume of concrete used;
  • spatula;
  • spray with water;
  • paint used for outdoor work;
  • thin rubber gloves;
  • a mask that protects the respiratory tract from cement dust and paint fumes;
  • saw with diamond wheels for processing the finished figurine.

Man-made boulder stone

Almost anyone will be able to make such a decoration of the site. And the boulder on the site looks rather exotic. The stone looks especially beautiful near a reservoir, pool, in recreation area, along the tracks.

Also benches can be attached to the boulders. It can serve as a table base with a table top that seems to cross the top.

Manufacturing process with wire frame

A stone frame is made of wire.

Concrete stone frame

The inside of the frame is filled with bags, foam. You can also use construction waste, empty glass bottles, empty buckets, basins, barrels. This will reduce the consumption of cement slurry and delay the process of its "sinking" into the frame.

Filling the frame with debris

A cement solution is prepared.

Preparation of cement mortar with sand

Concrete is glued onto the frame with small cakes.

Covering the frame with concrete

After some time, the first layer of cement will set. Then you need to make the solution thinner and coat the stone again, smoothing the irregularities with a spatula.

Secondary coating of the frame

Then the top of the stone is wrapped in polyethylene and left to dry a little.

When the top of the stone has seized, the workpiece is turned over and the sole of the boulder is coated with mortar.

Making a boulder with burlap

Burlap is lowered into a slurry of concrete, squeezed. Then it is applied to the frame.

Burlap is moistened with cement mortar

The workpiece is coated with thick concrete. The algorithm for applying the solution is repeated - with small cakes the figure is stuck on top, as on the wire frame.

The edges of the burlap are tucked inward.

Drying concrete stone

After drying, the stone is painted and varnished.

More complex sculptures are made using the same technology. Only for the work the master will need the talent of sculpture.
