When breeding rabbits, one of the main points is to equip them with a reliable home. If animals are to be kept in cages, care must be taken in advance to make them comfortable there. The houses should be spacious enough, especially for the young. In addition, it is worth considering where they will stand - outdoors or indoors. And to make them easy to clean, it's important to know how to make a rabbit cage.

The specific cell sizes depend on the breed and age of the animals. The classic version is a house 1 m long and 50 cm wide with a sloping roof. It is installed at a height of at least 70 cm from the soil level.

Simple and convenient barn cages

If the cells are planned to be placed indoors, the simplest version of the cage is suitable - solid wire. For its manufacture, a mesh with different mesh sizes is used:

• for the floor, a finer mesh is needed, with holes no more than 1.7 cm;
• a larger mesh is suitable for the walls and ceiling, from 2.5 to 5 cm (depending on who will live in it - only adults or with cubs).

The mesh is attached to a wooden frame. It is very convenient to remove such structures, moreover, they take up less space and are more mobile. Instead of a mesh, you can use wooden slats for the floor. It is enough that they are 3 cm wide. It is not necessary to place the slats tightly to each other - you need to leave gaps of about 1.5 cm for waste. You cannot make larger slits, otherwise the rabbit's feet will get stuck in them.

It is advisable to provide a pallet under the floor where waste will be collected.

How to make an outdoor rabbit cage

When arranging street cages, it should be borne in mind that they should be warmer. In a cold mesh cage, young growth can die in winter. Most often, wooden structures are chosen for outdoor maintenance. Their walls are made of planks, and the front part is sheathed with mesh. To protect rabbits from overheating, it is better to use slate for the roof, rather than a metal profile. The latter gets very hot.

If you make a cage for young animals, you need to provide for a nesting compartment, where the rabbits will bask in winter. But for the reproduction of rabbits, it is important to equip the cage with a mother liquor - stationary or removable. In the first case, it is a separate compartment with a solid floor and walls. The mobile mother liquor is a box with an entrance hole.
