When to sow lupines for seedlings: planting dates depending on the place of cultivation

Tell me when to sow lupines for seedlings? I bought a very beautiful variety with yellow-red rocking chairs. I want to plant it in pots in the spring, and when it grows up, plant it in the garden. The warmth does not come soon here, I am afraid that it will not have time to bloom if it is immediately planted in the ground.

when to sow lupines for seedlings Lupine is better known to gardeners as a siderat, but it also has decorative varieties that growers are happy to grow. Tall stuffed peduncles of different colors among the unusual, rounded-feathery foliage look very impressive on a flower bed. Like all legumes, lupine reproduces well and most often by seed. These are fairly large beans or beans that sprout together. The culture is resistant to freezing, which allows it to be grown by sowing in open ground, both in spring and before winter. However, lupine is often planted in seedlings - this allows you to see its flowering already in the first year after planting. When to sow lupines for seedlings depends on where they will be grown. Flowers can be grown both indoors and immediately on a flower bed, but with shelter.

Lupine seeds germinate very quickly, but it takes at least 1.5 months to form a full-fledged bush. If there is no room for seedlings in the house, you can grow it right on the flower bed by organizing a nursery there. This can be done simply with the help of a small greenhouse made of film stretched over arcs. Under the shelter, seeds are sown at the end of March, while it is better to do this in rows. The beans are laid out by the piece with a distance of about 10 cm, the same amount is left in the aisles. They do not bury deeply, a 2-centimeter layer of soil above the crops is enough. Greenhouse periodically ventilate and water, weed and gently loosen the soil. When the seedlings reach a height of 10 cm, the lupine is transplanted to a permanent place.

In regions with late and cold spring, planting is carried out no earlier than April or seedlings are grown indoors.

The timing of sowing seeds when growing seedlings in room conditions

indoor lupine seedlingsWhen to plant lupines for seedlings in pots depends on the growing region. In general, it takes about 1.5-2 months from planting to transplanting to a permanent place. So, if in southern latitudes, planting in the garden can be carried out already in April, respectively, seeds are sown for seedlings in February. In the central zone, stable heat does not come earlier than May, which means that the sowing dates are shifted a month later. Lupine planted in March-April is planted in the garden in May-June.

It is better to plant it immediately in separate cups so that the seedlings do not tolerate a double transplant (taking into account the pick).

Growing indoor lupine seedlings is not difficult. For this:

  • use a universal substrate left over from indoor plants;
  • the beans are placed in a hole up to 1 cm deep;
  • water the plants regularly, not allowing the earth to dry out, but not making a swamp.

Two weeks before transplanting into the garden, the seedlings begin to harden, gradually accustoming them to the outside temperature.
