In what month are peonies transplanted in the fall to another place? I have one already very old bush, the last three years it does not bloom at all. Either it has become very thick, or the apple tree, which has also grown strongly, blocks the sun for it. In general, I decided not to waste time and right now move the peonies to a light flower bed, at the same time I will divide them. Until when do you need to have time to transplant the bushes so that they take root?

In the month of May, large caps of peonies of the most varied colors are fragrant on all flower beds. If your flowers stubbornly refuse to give buds year after year, the solution is one thing - transplanting peonies in the fall to another place. And this applies to both old bushes and newly planted young delots. Peonies belong to perennial plants, but every year their rosette becomes more and more dense. A large number of new shoots and roots in one hole takes away all the strength and nutrients from the bush for their development. Therefore, old thickened peonies either begin to give small flowers, or even stop blooming altogether. Such plants must be divided and planted, and autumn is the best time to do this. As for young flowers, they are most often transplanted if the planting site was initially chosen incorrectly. Peonies should grow in a well-lit area, and there will be no buds in the shade.

An autumn transplant is the best fit for both old and young plants. After the end of flowering, the peonies go to rest, and their aboveground part stops developing. This means that all nutrition now goes only to the roots. Therefore, bushes transplanted or planted during this period take root faster and generally tolerate both transplantation and division easier.

As for the timing of transplantation, they depend on the climatic conditions of the growing region. It is important not to be late with the procedure, since the peonies must have time to take root before the ground is frozen, otherwise they will die.

In general, one rule "works" for the autumn planting / transplanting for almost all flower crops. The plants should have at least 3 weeks left before frost - this time is quite enough for rooting.

• south - from September until mid-November;
• middle lane - from mid-August to mid-October;
• Siberia - no later than mid-September.

It is advisable to prepare planting holes in a new flower bed in advance, two weeks before transplanting. Dig holes measuring 50 cm by 50 cm. Mix the earth from them with an equal amount of humus and add 1 tbsp. ash. If the soil is poor, you can mix in a little superphosphate with potassium sulfate... Mix all the ingredients well and pour back into the hole, then water it.

To transplant peonies, you must first dig them up:

1. Cut off the shoots, leaving low stumps - it will be convenient for them to hold the bush.
2. Dig in the peony, stepping back 30 cm from all sides.
3. Rake the soil from the bush, pry it with a shovel and pull it out, holding the stalks by the hemp.
4. Rinse the roots.
5. Divide into divisions - each should have at least 3 buds plus rhizomes.
6. Soak all the cuttings in a solution of potassium permanganate for 20 minutes to disinfect the sections.

When the wounds on the cuts are dry, plant the peonies in new holes and water well. After it gets colder, cover the flowers with mulch to slightly delay the freezing of the soil. In addition, such a blanket will also serve as a shelter for the winter.
